Unable to cancel simport tour in progress

My game is showing several sims as being on tour. I cannot cancel the tours so the slots remain filled and I am unable to send new sims on tour.

I first searched the official forums for a solution and then here, but the only thread I can find with a similar problem is here: http://forum.thesims3.com/jforum/posts/list/515498.page

I followed the suggestions there but I am still unable to remedy the situation. The steps I have taken so far are:

  • total reboot of computer
  • attempting to cancel the tours from inside a newly created game in a different neighbourhood
  • logged out of Facebook profile while inside game, saved, restarted game and tried again to cancel tours
  • deleted cache files
  • deleted passport info
  • deleted the characters that are stuck on tour
  • deleted the save game that the characters were in
  • deleted any sims in my export folder
  • removed all save game files and created a new neighbourhood to try to cancel the tour
  • and finally in desperation a complete reinstall of the game

Even with a clean install of the game, I cannot clear these simport tour slots. I am guessing that this info must be stored externally and that I can't remove it myself.

I suspect there will be little that anyone here can do to help me with this problem, but perhaps someone can tell me how I can contact an EA representative by email as the only options that EA Help gives me are live chat or telephone and both are options that I cannot use. If it makes a difference, I am based in the UK. I have even tried going to the EA customer support facebook page as it was described on the main page here as "Like to get live updates and answers in Facebook". All that gives me is their update page and you can only comment there as a reply to an update posted by EA, and I can see there are endless comments asking for help there already that seem to have no response to them and just get lost and ignored on the page.

Ok, I doubt that they can help you much tbh so if you're ok with me trying to help you (as non-ea), let's try to continue here (I don't expect you to answer right away, you do how you feel confortable)

I do have a post about the issue but I really really don't see how after removing your entire game, including registery entries and user files, you still have them. It simply makes no sense at all.

I only have the post in German. This is the google translation (so it can be off at times): Showtime SimPort-book entries do not disappear.

I really don't see how this would still work though, given you've gotten rid of everything but it's worth a try.

  • Sorry I forgot to mention that I tried a factory reset before the full reinstall.

I didn't keep the user data after the full reinstall as at that point I'd given up on recovering any of my game data and wanted to make sure there was nothing left on my computer that could be holding the information.

Live chat isn't an option for me because I am disabled and it has taken me over 30 minutes to get this post typed out so far. The original post took more than an hour. This is not a feasible amount of time to expect someone to wait on live chat to give me responses.

  • Thank you, Crinrict. I am more than happy to have your help. Even people like me (that use forums very rarely) recognise your name and how much work you have put into trying to fix problems here over, on the official forums and on your site (which has helped me in the past).

I did think the first method was unlikely to help, but I gave it a try just in case with no luck.

The second method in your post, was a little difficult to understand with the Google translate, but I finally wondered if the middle step was to have the new family change house. I picked a random family from the neighbourhood and tried moving them to one of the cheap budget lots in the neighbourhood. It worked! Suddenly I could cancel the tours in progress.

The move must have forced the game to unlock whatever was preventing me from cancelling the tours when it processed the household move.

Thank you for all your help and patience.

You cannot imagine how happy that makes me that this helped you.

I guess I need to translate the post to english 🙂

    Happy Simming.
