Exactly the same issue I see in my game! Sims resets when opening the mailbox, and then they get onmiplant + the mail contents (like the bills and skill rewards) stuck in inventory.
The mailbox worked in a new game, but in a saved game the mailbox seem to have this issue - It's annoying I can't use the mailbox anymore.
