sims 3 imac m4 issues

so i decided to start playing the sims 3 again after i got bored with the sims 4. and i wanted to download some hair, like custom content hair and some hairs from the store, i cant for some reason install hairs in the store, it kept saying error and i am unsure why. another problem i am having is, i am downloading hairs, clothing, and makeup onto my sims 3 game from the sims resource and its not popping up. and its in the right folder. its in documents, electronic arts, sims 3, mods, packages. i am not sure why its not popping up. another problem i seem to have is when i dont have mods or custom content these eyelashes pop up.  this is extremely annoying and this is the problem i have been having ever since i tried playing the sims 3. ive been playing on my imac m4. i am unsure what to even do at this point. the cars i even get in custom content dont even work as well.

  • Sylviavioletbaby  Installing content through the launcher doesn't work in the most current versions of macOS.  This is the master thread, and there's a workaround (install through the Dashboard at the Main Menu) described in the thread:

Launcher crashes when I open the downloads tab in Sims 3 | EA Forums - 12167613

For the custom content that won't load in-game, did you also delete the cache files in your Sims 3 user folder?  These need to be deleted every time you add or remove content from the folder.

    • CASPartCache.package
    • compositorCache.package
    • scriptCache.package
    • simCompositorCache.package
    • socialCache.package

If that's not the issue, please confirm that the Sims 3 folder you're working with is the one the game is currently reading.  You can check the date modified on DeviceConfig—it should match the last time you opened the game.  And just to be clear, these are all .package files, right?  Sims3Packs need to be installed through the launcher (which you can't do), and .zip or .rar files need to be extracted.

The eyelashes looking wrong is an issue with this version of macOS and not solvable except by minimizing or removing the EA eyelashes and applying cc eyelashes instead.

i tried that and now my game wont load in. and ive been extracting zip and .rar files correctly. i tried installing the work around and everything and still didnt really work. should i just get a new computer?

  • Sylviavioletbaby  I don't think you need to get a new computer, and it's certainly not the next step at this point in the process.

Try removing or renaming the Sims 3 folder in Documents > Electronic Arts.  If that helps, something in the old folder is the issue, perhaps some bad custom content.  You can test the files in small batches to try to find the culprit, or just start over with new content if you're not committed to what you were using.

theres a couple stuff i have in my game, maybe this can help fix the issue, i tried doing that but nothing was working, a lot of my hairs, clothing like tops, jeans, dresses. aren't popping up, and its weird that its just those things, the eyes custom content works fine. its just tops, jeans, dresses, hair custom content that i know of right now isn't popping up. i recently downloaded a mod the sims sims 3 folder https://modthesims.info/wiki.php?title=Game_Help:Installing_Sims_3_Package_Files/Setup_and_Files

that way so my game would help locate the mods that i am installing. another thing if it helps i am running it on imac m4 sequoia version 15.6.1 with the game version of 1.70.305.024017

i also have this installed as well https://modthesims.info/d/654691/eyelash-mesh-terminator.html the hairs that wont pop up are from shlmydim and lealillith both on the sims resource.com which i downloaded both of them before on my gaming laptop before it was broken with no problems. every thing i downloaded was popping up before.

i realized half of the problem.... every browser i use, because i am on imac m4, it doesnt show the sims 3 logo at the bottom, and you can't click the custom content to download it onto the launcher. its trying to open it instead of having that little logo at the bottom of it. is that half of the problem?

  • Sylviavioletbaby  What do you mean that it doesn't show the Sims 3 logo?  If you're talking about the file type, the important thing is not any logo but what extension it has.  As I said before, a file that ends in .package is treated like a mod, and a file that ends in .Sims3Pack would be installed through the launcher, which you can't do right now.

If you don't know what kind of file something is, and somehow Finder isn't showing it, you can right-click the file and select Get Info.  You can see the file type, as in the extension, under Name & Extension.

If you need to use a different browser for some reason, try Firefox.

okay bet. so its fine, i think what its doing is it wont let me download anything like custom content or anything from the store that goes into my downloads folder. otherwise it says error. but i dont know how to fix it. or how to fix the fact that there is something in the folder right now thats not letting me pop up the downloads or installed content folder onto the game launcher.
