University Life Won't Launch

I have both the Sims 3 and University Life.  The base game is patched to 1.50 and I have no problems playing it on its own.  However once I install University Life, I no longer am able to play.  Whenever I hit the launch button, the following message comes up.

Important Message!  There is a problem connecting to the server.  Please ensure your internet connection is active.  If the problem persists try again later.

I've tried uninstalling and reinstalling Origin, the base game, and University Life to no effect.  I have no problems with my internet connection, and can continue to use Origin to download and browse at the same time the message is popping up.  Any thoughts?

  • I downloaded both from Origin and do not have the disc for either.  I'm running 32 bit Windows Vista.  I have given the game files and launchers permission to go through my firewall as well as Origin and its launcher.  I've tried launching it with my virus protection disabled and I still get the same message.

Could you try disabling the firewall entirly just to see if maybe the settings is off.

I only know two reasons for this error:

    • EA is having issues with their servers (which they were having but it should be solved)
    • Firewall/Antivirus is blocking the connection.

If it doesn't work, I don't have any other suggestions atm, sorry.
