@puzzlezaddict using origin. The only other things coming up when graphicscards is searched on the harddrive is graphicscards files for TS4.
@x3littlewing Okay, so in for some reason, the game isn't picking up your edit for graphicscards.sgr, which should be the easy part. Please repair the game in Origin, which should restore the default copies of both .sgr files. Then edit only graphicscards.sgr, and then only to copy and paste this line:
card 0x67df "Radeon RX 580"
just below the very first line of the file, the one that says
vendor "ATI" 0x1002
Save your work, close the file, AND please make sure you're saving the file as an .sgr, not as a .txt or anything else. (You can just look at the file once you've closed it; make sure Windows is set to show file extensions.)
If this doesn't work, I have another idea, so let me know.

@puzzlezaddict few problems- repairing the game did not replace the file. i did save the original file so i put it back in and made the suggested edits once more with no success and now i don't have a backup of the original anymore.

@x3littlewing It's strange that the repair didn't put back the original files; it did for me when I tested just now, as it always has. It makes me think more than ever that you have a second graphicscards.sgr and graphicsrules.sgr somewhere, and the game is using those files rather than the ones you've been editing.
A quick test for that would be to remove both .sgr files entirely; put them on your desktop or something. The game shouldn't start at all without their being present. If it does, you know you're looking for a second pair of files.
Anyway, I redid the edits myself tonight (sorry for taking a while to reply, but I didn't have time to do this until now), and they worked, with just a slightly different device ID for my card. I used all the other text I provided you, so if you want, I can send you that text as well. But I still think you might have duplicate files somewhere, or else the edits you're doing aren't being saved at all.
