Will sims 3 work on a 2018 MacBook Air? Because Sims 4 sure doesn't...
Hi I bought all the Sims 4 games thinking they'd work on my laptop but all of them make my laptop overwhelmed and I can only play a household for about 24 hours game play time before my computer runs out of space and can no longer save or play the game anymore or function properly. It slows way down, overheats and makes loud noises. I can't make multiple families either because it won't remember them. I read somewhere after the fact that my laptop is not a gaming computer meant for gaming. Anyways I'm just wondering if it's just the sims 4 games being so new or if my computer can't handle any of type of game. The last sims I played were the sims 2 years ago so I didn't play sims 3 at all so it would still all be new to me even if I played that instead of the sims 4. I was wondering that maybe because the sims 3 is an older game it will work better on my 2018 MacBook Air or if no games will work at all? I have money to buy a few games left over but not enough for a new laptop. So I'm wondering whether or not the sims 3 will work and in that case whether I should buy it or not. I don't want to put money into a game I can't even play again. Thanks for your response! PS using is a desk top is out because I'm on the road all the time so I have to use a laptop.
@IBRC2020 Sims 3 actually runs worse on Macs, and on lower-end hardware, than Sims 4. And it doesn't currently run at all on Catalina. There's an update coming out at some point to fix that; maybe check back in to see how the 64-bit version runs on Macs and consider buying TS3 at that point. But if you did it now, you might be wasting your money.
If you're having issues running Sims 4, you can ask for help in the Sims 4 Mac section.

Please make sure your computer can cool itself properly though. On top of the weak hardware, your laptop will throttle performance to protect itself when temperatures get too high. A cooling pad is cheap; a fan can be even cheaper, and elevating the laptop so air can circulate underneath is free.
