Try redeeming the code here: https://store.thesims3.com/myAccount.html and then download it through your purchase history: https://store.thesims3.com/purchaseHistory.html
If the code doesn't work, it might already be redeemed so check the history to download it from there.
I've been trying to do the EXACT same thing, NOTHING is working. it keeps giving me an error and telling it wont install. I looked thru the stuff in the case and I see a 90 day warrenty but I know thats not true because MOST stores will NOT take a disk of any sort back. I cannot get the game to install, I cannot get the code to be redeem when I click the link. It literally doesn't take me any where. What DO YOU guys at EA suggest? Why can't you just make it simple like you USE to back in the first sims 1 and 2? now we have origin and it just pisses everyone off. You aren't steam STOP IT.

All the package tells you is how to install the base game not the world which I find pointless.
For anyone still having the problem....
1. Install on your computer
2. Go to thesims3.com
3. Log in
4. Go to "My Account"
5. Find the tab that says "redeem code"
6. Enter the code that is found on the black and white packet inside the game
7. Go to your purchase history and download

Start the launcher through Origin first by hitting play on Origin. Then open your browser and download from thesims3.com purchase history.
