[ARCHIVED] Reapers rewards: grafting not producing orchids or pomegranates

Steps: How can we find the bug ourselves? Graft a cherry to an apple or a lily to a snap dragon.
What happens when the bug occurs? Spliced plant produces no pomegranates or orchids, only apples, cherries and snapdragons
What do you expect to see? I expect to see a pomegranate or orchid when I graft my plants
Have you installed any customization with the game, e.g. Custom Content or Mods? On console - never used.
Did this issue appear after a specific patch or change you made to your system? No

I don’t know if this counts as a bug, but I’m reporting it as one anyway because I cannot complete the reapers rewards because I cannot get a death flower. After searching the forums, I have discovered that supposedly the chances of getting a pomegranate or an orchid on a spliced plant is only one percent. That is honestly ridiculous and way too high I understand that getting ambrosia shouldn’t be easy but only one percent?? Some simmers have said that they have taken 600 sim days to get one single pomegranate. That is frankly outrageous. You shouldn’t have to cheat by ordering it on your phone or going to a city living festival or buying rare seed packets until you finally stumble on a single pomegranate. Why have the grafting skill at all if it never ever works!! This is ridiculous. Please fine-tune the grafting to a reasonable level of difficulty. Especially since we have a challenge that is completely focused on getting a death flower through grafting! !!

As the Reaper's Rewards event has now ended, this thread has been archived.

Thank you all so much for sharing the information needed to assist the team. Even though some issues weren't able to be resolved by the conclusion of the Reaper's Rewards event, we were able to use that data provided to improve the experience for future events.

@Knotwise13 Hi, I am working on that very thing right now, with seasons it is a pain too because they are all seasonal, I will post my season tricks in a new thread on EA answers. Grafting there is two kinds of grafting merging and creating special plants. Make sure you graft cherry to an Apple Tree plant, not the Spliced Apple Tree plant, that should change the tree to young again, and will say Pomegranate Tree. Now you graft a Lily onto a Snapdragon to get a Orchid. Than you graft the Pomegranate to the Orchid, and you will get a Death Flower, keep in mind you will only get 1 death flower from 1 deathflower bush, so how do you get more death flowers by splicing it to another plant, I usually choose the trash plant, because they bloom every season, and trash fruit might not taste great as it is but it has its uses, plus getting a death flower ever day is a winner! Also there is a rare chance you will find a death flower or poomegrante or Orchid fishing. I hope it helps. I try to graft my plants to the other seasonal plants so I can get them in all seasons, and always graft tree fruit to bush plants because you get more harvests faster.

this post is saying that grafting the plants the correct way does not produce the right harvestables. Not that they don’t know how to do it.

I have tested this myself and grafting plants is broken. The plant will never produce anything new, even though the tooltip indicates that it will

@rory_nutt Grafting is working just fine for me. When I get to that stage I will post back if I have any problems.

I have the same issue. I use gardening a lot in game and know exactly how it works. And I just cannot for the life of me get a pomegranate from my grafted plant. I've been playing soo many sim days (I wish I would've counted) and waiting and waiting to no avail. So frustrating.

You can order a Death Flower from your phone or computer.

Just make sure they are sheltered. Then no problem with them being out of season.

Tried, & in greenhouse, pomegranate & orchids wouldn't be there to harvest, only the original fruit, even though plant says it was part pomegranate & orchid plants now. Tried 3 in game sim weeks. Gave up & used phone. If planting doesn't work plus all the reverting to dirt pile problems, we shouldn't be getting an event like this making us waste our precious time planting for nothing, & should have just told us to only buy the flower from the start & warn us planting is nearly impossible.🫤
Update: 😏ok, NOW I get one pomegranate.😮‍💨. Days later. (..still no orchids though.)😬why is this being so hard..

@jpkarlsen My plants are in a green house, they are sheltered. No orchids or pomegranates EVER. This is absurd. I’m counting the grafting skill as BROKEN

So I got cuttings of both snapdragon and Lily plant and I get the snapdragon, Orchid, and Lilies. I don't know I thought it was supposed to change the plant to Orchid?
