[BY DESIGN] Childhood skills don't help later in life

My child sim had a lot of skills that she had learned, but now that she's a teenager they don't seem to be doing anything for her; all her skills start at 1 and don't seem to be getting learned at a faster rate. Is this normal, or should skills learned as a child directly relate to starting skills after that higher like they did in Sims 3?

You have to max a child skill and then you can start leveling the adult related skills. Those you carry into teen.

That's an answer I got from someone on twitter.

    Does that help you  ?

I think if it doesn't do anything unless you "max" the skills, what's the point in having them? They don't benefit anything and the progress is for nothing. =/

  • Thanks, that's good info to have. Shame really, those skills take AGES to level up, and if it has to be maxed it's not worth the effort.

  • Well, didn't really get a confirmation from a guru. Maybe ask them directly during one of their chat session over at the official forum.
