[BY DESIGN] Sim can't use the chemistry Lab after quiting the scientist career

My sim can't use the chemistry Lab after quiting the scientist career...did he forget how?

    My Sim was level 10 at one point in the Scientist career, as soon as she quits her job the lab table stops working.
    This is a picture of what I get, it roughly translates to "only scientist can find out how the lab works".

Great. Judging by that, it's not a bug. Just weird.
