[ECO] Power generation objects not generating power

Product: The Sims 4
Platform:PC
Which language are you playing the game in? English
How often does the bug occur? Often (50% - 99%)
What is your current game version number? 1.63.136.1010
What expansions, game packs, and stuff packs do you have installed? All
Steps: How can we find the bug ourselves? Place roof or ground solar panels or wind turbines. Wait until daytime.
What happens when the bug occurs? On most days power generation will be NEGATIVE even on sunny days and with absolutely NO powered devices on the lot.
What do you expect to see? Power generating devices actually generate power.
Have you installed any customization with the game, e.g. Custom Content or Mods? Not now. I've removed them.
Did this issue appear after a specific patch or change you made to your system? Yes
Please describe the patch or change you made. ECO Living.

I have a lot with NO powered devices. Candles for all lighting. I have SIX roof solar panels and one ground wind turbine and get a constant -4.93 power generation after 10am on sunny days in summer.

This was the last component of ECO Living that made the pack useful. Now that this is broken also, the expansion is (almost) completely useless. I suppose the clothing and new furniture works, is this a Stuff pack?

This makes off-the-grid living completely worthless. With no way to generate power and somehow getting a NEGATIVE power usage even with no powered devices, there's no point.  NAPs are broken. ECO footprint is broken. Power generation is broken. Fabricator is broken. Juicer is broken. Wall planters are (kinda) broken.

At least with the new billing system broken also, non off-the-grid lots are cheaper at a constant $300, which offsets the higher bills from the power usage being broken. Geez...

Still seems to be an issue... Not storing any power, practically running candles only and off-the-grid appliances, several solars and still on negative power. Doesn't seem to matter if modded or not.

    Hello!

If you are still encountering this on the latest game version (without mods), would you be willing to share your save file(s)?

If so, please send me a private message with a link to the file.

    Instructions here: http://x.ea.com/74420

    Thanks!

  • I'm still having this issue. 2 years later I would have expected this bug to be fixed by now.

How often does the bug occur? Every time (100%)
What is your current game version number? 1.108.349.1020
What expansions, game packs, and stuff packs do you have installed? All expansions, game packs, and stuff packs, just some kits that I don't own.
Steps: How can we find the bug ourselves? Make an off-the-grid house in sulani and install a turbine to power a vacuum cleaner. Everything is set to not use the power grid.
What happens when the bug occurs? I'm trying to play an off-the-grid house in Sulani and the dust appeared in the house. So I did some research and found that the only way to clean it up, is to have some kind of generator to power a vacuum. I did that, but I still can't do it. I own an off-the-grid fridge, toilet, sink, shower and grill. They're all set to not use the utilities, I'm collecting water and filling the fridge with ice. The bills info page tells me I will generate about 8 power in a day, then I get a message to say I have power, followed by a message saying my lot is draining the power and its all gone again. I have nothing using power, I just want it to power a vacuum, but it comes, then its gone in the same second.
What do you expect to see? I expect to be able to store the power that the roof turbine is generating and then use it to power a vacuum.
Have you installed any customization with the game, e.g. Custom Content or Mods? Never used.
Did this issue appear after a specific patch or change you made to your system? Neutral/Not Sure

I'm trying to play off the grid in sulani, but I want to generate enough power to use a vacuum.  I have every appliance and utility set to not use the grid power, and a turbine on the roof to generate a small amount.  I have it set to store the power, and I receive some, but its drained away in the same second.  There is nothing that should be using it, I don't even own the vacuum yet.  I get the message saying I'm generating surplus energy and then the message saying I've drained it all, both at the same time.

@GiardiniDiMarzo Great, a bug posted 4 years ago that hasn't been fixed.  What a surprise.  Thanks for the link though, I will see what the geothermal trait can provide.
