It has been happening for the past month, even after the control which room with lights update (PC Version 1.21.32.1020). I tried repairing my game but it has not fixed it. It happens in rooms usually when a sim of mine is sleeping, and when auto-lights are enabled in the specific room or all rooms, when a sim is asleep or absent from the room, the light should not be on. But even when my sim is sleeping, the lights in their room are on. This is for any light, not just wall lights/night lights. Is seems to only happen in one room, but can happen in rooms without beds/sleeping sims. Deleting the lights and giving new or same type of light does not fix it, nor resetting the light. The light just wont turn off automatically, which is the whole point of auto-lights.

I am seeing this intermittently in my game as well since the 7/14/16 patch. I took the pic last night but today the lights in the same room functioned properly. It just isn't consistent. The pic was taken the first night after rotating to the household but it had occurred in two different rooms in the household I had just rotated out of. In my game it only hits one room at a time, i.e. household I had left first had lights stay on in the parents bedroom on day one of rotating into household and then again on the 4th night of play in a newly aged child to teen's bedroom. I haven't used the setting per room, just the auto-lights for all rooms selection.

Yes, I have tried some of those same things but its seems less that it is a consistent thing. More so that it happens irregularly but stay for the entire game unless I save and exit then return, but even then it can happen out of nowhere.🤨

Not something I can duplicate but I'll add to to see if more people have this issue

Previous to this screenshot, I had the exact same trouble with the sleeping sim's room, exited to main menu, returned and then it was the bathroom next door. Exited again and returning a second time seemed to fix the issue, but it's annoying. Lights are all on auto, no CC/mods.

Yes, I have a screenshot of sim sleeping in bedroom and lights on even with auto-light. This had just happened and it lasted about two days (sim days) in the kitchen, Idk what fixed it. I want to say that I had brought a npc sim over and then after they left, lights were left on. Then they came back another day and the lights were off and the problem was gone, but this is not the solution...its just me theory, but I will continue to test this theory to help EA patch the problem

So I brought over the other npc sim and it did not work. So my theory was not correct. Still unsolved 😞

I'm also experiencing this issue. So far, it is consistent for me, though. I set auto-lights on the entire lot, and they work as they should. Then when my Sims go to bed, the bedroom lights stay on while they are sleeping.

This issue happens to me after the July 18th update. It seems to me that if one doesn't modify the light in anyway after update, the light stays the same as before update. However, any modification will result in one seeing this bug. Example is I have a household which their lights were set to auto-light prior update, and everything acted normally after patch. On the other hand, another household was created after patch, thus their lights were set after, and their lights won't turn off when sims are sleeping.

~~I am not sure, but it may be because the update added new assets for lights, causing the pre-update lights and post-update lights acting differently.~~

Eta: I was totally wrong. At the end of my game session last night, I noticed that the lights when back to normal. I have zero idea what I did to fix it, so I list out what I've done in the last session.

Left and entered home lot multiple times, including went to dine out

Rotate households and set their lights to auto-light

Went into CAS using the household management panel

Maybe one of them can solve the problem, but I'll test it out some time I launch the game.

Mods and cc could be affecting it if you have mods or cc. You might need to delete some stuff from your computer if most of your space is taken up from unused items or something else.
