@ClassPrezTenya Hi! I hadn't paid close attention to this until recently but I'm seeing the same thing. I definitely think it's a bug or at least an oversight and not working as intended. I did some testing and found something similar to what you said. My child sim had gained Logic skill that was reset when the Mental skill was maxed.
The child sim had level 2 logic that reset to 1 when Mental skill maxed.
However, when testing for the Horse Riding skill, which was added with the Horse Ranch pack, this did not occur.
The child kept their Horse Riding skill when the Motor skill maxed. This is what I expect to happen with every other "adult" skill. This, along with a review of the Live Stream, makes me think that Adult skills should not reset just because the Fundamental skills are maxed. Below is a link to the Live Stream for Growing Together and the Infants update. At 01:54:03, SimGuruMorgan is about to have a child play piano. Then she explains that child sims can now learn adult skills, although at a slower rate than adult sims. She makes no mention of any skills resetting.
Perhaps someone from the Sims Team could give an official statement as to whether or not the skill reset is intentional. However, it does not make sense to me that they would allow child sims to start gaining these skills just to have them reset.
Fundamental skills should no longer reset to skill level 1 after being maxed out.
Fixed in Patch 1.100.147/1.80
