[FIXED] [CoL] Loud scratch/Multiple songs when listing to Cottage Core on Earbud

Product: The Sims 4
Platform:PC
Which language are you playing the game in? English
How often does the bug occur? Often (50% - 99%)
What is your current game version number? 1.77.131.1030
What expansions, game packs, and stuff packs do you have installed? All of them except for the Starwars, 80's kit, and a few stuff packs.
Steps: How can we find the bug ourselves? I am not 100% sure but I think the earbuds are causing it when you turn on the cottagecore channel.
What happens when the bug occurs? The sound is very loud, scratchy, screeching and it just makes this terrible sound even if you turn the earbuds off. You have to completely restart the game to get rid of it and it happens every time I turn on the earbuds to cottagecore.
What do you expect to see? I would like to hear the cottagecore music, not the wailing of 1000 banshees.
Have you installed any customization with the game, e.g. Custom Content or Mods? Never used.
Did this issue appear after a specific patch or change you made to your system? Yes
Please describe the patch or change you made. Installed Cottage Living

I'm not sure what's going on with this but when I try to turn on the earbuds to cottagecore it just screeches at me and it's just a terrible sound even if you turn them off or try to change the channel and only restarting the game makes it stop.

Edit By Crinrict: Added Tag to Title, Adjusted Title

  • Fixed an issue where Earbuds would occasionally play multiple songs at the same time when listening to Cottage Core music.

    Fixed in Patch 1.99.264/1.78

please create a new thread if you're still experiencing this issue, especially if the loud scratching noise wasn't part of the multiple songs.

Same. Still a problem when using the earbuds from the Fitness Stuff Pack. Only fix is to quit the game.

  • WOW!!!!!!!! .. How has this not been a priority to fix?? Its 2023...

I experienced this today wearing headphones turned on level 6 out of 10. It's the most garbled ear piercing sound ever.

Made me jump out of my chair throwing my headphones to the floor. Could seriously see someone potentially going deaf or at least potentially

receiving permanent hearing damage. When it happens, the volume seems to increase 2 or 3 times louder to like 9 out of 10.

No way to turn it off except exiting the game. Telling your sim to stop using the earbuds does nothing.

Using onboard audio of a B550 Aorus Pro and RealteK audio drivers 10.0.19041.1

  • I just encountered this glitch. I've been playing Cottage Living for the first time lately. Just bought my sim earbuds, sent her for a jog and turned on Cottagecore music. Multiple songs and static are playing at once no matter which sim I am actively playing. I can hear the music even when my sim is away jogging and I'm playing a sim at the house. I turned the earbuds off, got rid of the earbuds and even went to Manage Worlds and reloaded the household. I'm going to try restarting my game entirely now.

Yes I'm still encountering this bug. I experienced it with the launch of Cottage Living and have totally avoided the Cottage Core station since then because it's an assault on my ears that forces me to restart to fix it. Every other station is fine.

I just encountered this bug, too. I restarted my game & sold the headphones. It went away, but now I’m nervous to have my sims listen to music at all, lol.

I know what you mean! I refuse to even try and see of the Cottagecore station works for fear of the screeches 😂
