[FR] Tenant's Names X'd Out

Product: The Sims 4
Platform:PC
Which language are you playing the game in? English
How often does the bug occur? Every time (100%)
What is your current game version number? 1.107.151.1020
What expansions, game packs, and stuff packs do you have installed? All expansion packs; Strangerville, Parenthood and Spa Day Game Packs; Nifty Knitting, Tiny Living, My First Pets, Vintage Glamour, Toddler, Romantic Garden, Laundry Day, Cool Kitchen and Backyard Stuff packs.
Steps: How can we find the bug ourselves? The bug occurs when a Residential Rental lot has a new tenant placed. It can occur when they are placed from Manage Worlds or when your played sim fills a vacancy for a Residential Rental unit they own through the UI in Live mode.
What happens when the bug occurs? After placing the tenant in the residential unit when you view the property in Manage Worlds or in Travel mode the tenant’s name appears as a series of X's over the household’s surname.
What do you expect to see? The household’s surname listed without being X’d out.
Have you installed any customization with the game, e.g. Custom Content or Mods? Not now. I've removed them.
Did this issue appear after a specific patch or change you made to your system? Neutral/Not Sure

  • @GlumPanda91 Do you have any issues with the lot ? That usually starts happening if there's a problem with the lot.

Did you build the lot yourself or is from the gallery ?

  • There are no problems with the lot that I'm aware of. 2 I built myself and 1 is an original Sims build in Willow Creek. It's not really causing any issues with gameplay at all. I'm just worried that it's a sign that in time my save is going to be broken and it's my legacy save I've been playing for TIME!

@GlumPanda91 It could very well be. If you want to be on the safe side, I would currently not use any residential rentals in any legacy save you are attached too.

    Also make regular backups
  • I had this issue. But after loading the save again. They were fixed. Gone. Nothing wrong with the lots. Didn't have any issues. Reloading the game just fixed the issue. I do make regular backups just in case. So for me was a visual issue since it was all r-rental lots but reloading the game fixed it. Had no issues and play with rental lots a lot.

  • @crinrict Thank you! Should I sell the ones the sim household currently owns or is that just going to complicate things further?

I have been backing up regularly as you say because I am incredibly attached to this save file.

@Creeper545548 That's very interesting and I'm glad it sorted itself for you.  One lot is like this in my game as in it's not always XXXX'd out but the others are not fixed by exiting out. Maybe it's just a glitch but I thought I should bring it to EA's attention because this is the kind of thing that seems like it could spread and cause bigger problems.

@GlumPanda91 I really don't know what the best advice is. Some people have no issues at all, others constantly.

If you keep backups (multiple), it's probably safe to just continue.

I mostly saw this on saves that also had the max int rent issue but also if the lot was just corrupted in other ways.
