yes!!! The game failed WHILE i was attempting to return to the police station from being out on a "case". It was also the same day I had given my sim that career.
I'll merge this with the bug report.

I can get to the map. I evicted them, then re-moved them back in. It did indeed get him out of work, I hovered over his pfp and it said "at home" instead of being at the case like he previously was. However, every time I try to go into the household, I still get the error. I also still get the error as soon as I enter the save.
I tried entering a random townie family, and it does allow me to play. Does this mean that the family itself is corrupted? If I should I just give up on, and delete them, do you think it would help?
it's already like a four generation legacy and the first servo I've ever made so I don't really want to do that but it may have to be done XD

@SketchyMonster If you can load other families, try if you can invite him over (choose a family that knows the detective). that has helped in the past.
Otherwise do you have any backups ?

It did help!! I no longer receive the error and now I can play as my family again. Thank you so so much! I see why the forum calls you a sims hero :D
one question: is this commonly an issue in the detective career? Should I make him quit/not use this career in the future to avoid issues? Because of removing my CC my characters and houses are all messed up and half-empty now, so I'd prefer to avoid the issue in the future.

@SketchyMonster I really don't know what's causing it but I would make sure to keep regular backups and don't quit the game while at the career. Finish the day, go home, then save and quit.
