[S] Sims open/shut their umbrella while standing and conversing

We are looking for some more information to be able to reproduce on our end, would you mind helping with that?

Is there any other interaction or event or neighborhood plans active or anything else which could be one of the reasons behind this other than having conversations with the other sims?

This was a brand new save, fully updated and all packs installed.

I experienced this happening while at the Humor and Hijinks Festival, no specific interactions (just Sims chatting) and some were watching a Jokster performance.

The N.A.P.'s active at the time were: Foodies Unite! and Roughhousing Encouraged

This actually happened to me yesterday. I had my SIm try to become best friends with another household member. She was sitting on the pool's ledge, and the 'become best friend' Sim was standing up holding the umbrella. She couldn't become best friends until he stopped trying to open and close the umbrella. It was as if he was trying to decide whether to become best friends or open the umbrella.

Steps: How can we find the bug ourselves? go outside in the rain, try to do anything. interrupts conversations. also sims will have an umbrella even if you have put umbrellas away in umbrella stand. also sims use umbrellas with waterproof trait which is stupid.
What happens when the bug occurs? endless opening and closing of umbrella, overrides all other actions.
What do you expect to see? umbrellas should stay put away if a sim has put it away. autonomous umbrella use should be a toggle on off option.
Have you installed any customization with the game, e.g. Custom Content or Mods? Never used.
Did this issue appear after a specific patch or change you made to your system? No

let us decide when we want to use umbrellas. keep umbrellas put away if a sim has put them away.

@claireluttmer I merged this with the thread on opening/closing and interrupting conversations. There's other dedicated threads for umbrellas too (check the compiled list and use search to find)

As for the Sims having umbrellas, is that or NPCs or active Sims (aka playing rotationally and then they have one when you switch away from them) ? I can't duplicate this on my active Sim.

I have this in my game too. When it's raining, it is hard to do things. I recorded it, but can't attach it here.

I'm on Xbox and I have had this issue for a while. I don't remember when it started but it's probably been happening for about 2 years now. It most recently happened when a sim outside of my sims household died outside in the rain while in the boundary of my sims lot. With full autonomy on my entire household of 8 sims went outside to witness the death and were constantly opening and closing their umbrellas. It seems like they were not able to hold an open umbrella and witness the death of a sim interaction at the same time. Also I don't know if it's related but none of the sims in my game ever get wet from the rain without an umbrella and they don't have the reward trait that makes sims immune to getting wet. This umbrella bug is most noticeable with vampires since they seem to automatically start out with an umbrella now when placing them in live mode after creating them in cas, and unplayed vampires outside of the household automatically have umbrellas. Vampires for me used to only have an umbrella if I manually forced them to pick one out of the build mode item umbrella stand.
