Hi,
I think this is the most annoying bug for a household rotational players, like me.
After switching to a household and if any of the sims have to work within that period of sim time, they will be late for school/ work.
This will cause a huge performance loss and it's a pain to rebuild back the performance.
The only turnaround is to prevent household switching during their working hours (preferably 6am)
Unlike previously, if the switching was done during their working hours, they may not need to go to work and no performance loss too.

I take it that is for all of the careers and not just the active ones ? Did this occur with patch only too ? Do you know that ?
- Hamsysincy11 years agoNew Veteran
Yes. It happens on both new careers and old careers.
I am not sure if it occurs after patch or after GTW expansion because i immediately installed GTW after the latest patch.
Also, i am not using mods.

Added to patch issues. Since it's not limited to the new careers it's probably a patch and not a GTW issue

Just a follow-up here, this issue is still occurring as of 9/8/15.
I will provide screenshots of this issue occurring next I change played lots...I'm currently expecting a new sim to be born on this lot.

It’s still occurring as of 03/18/2020 :/

It makes me sad that this has been an issue since 2015 and rotational play still doesn't work properly :/

@adduapinathat was literally my response just now when I found out it's been reported years ago. My sims don't go to work/school because of this issue and one of my sims was suspended from university, probably didn't go to class at all. Very, very disappointing that such old bugs are NOT addressed and fixed while they keep putting out new stuff, which actually causes more bugs. (since my last 3 packs, I've had nothing but bugs; get together, fitness pack and outdoor retreat). Very disappointed to be honest ☹️
Question: does this issue also relate to kids/teens not doing HOMEWORK? Because I just found one of my kids was very late for school and actually her performance is now "poor" ☹️
In case this topic still needs input, I think @burin077 summed it up perfectly on page 2 of this thread (back in 2015!!!):
- Issue triggers reliably when accessing a lot where one of the sims has a job during the time the last time the game was saved/changed lots. (For example, if you change lots and it's 4:00 PM, and on the new lot you have someone who works from 2 PM - 9 PM, they will be considered late and will suffer a work performance penalty.)
- The issue does NOT occur if the lot is access RIGHT UPON the time that the Sim must work, merely signaling that they need to go to work, meaning you will have to select the sim and select "Go to Work."
- The issue does not trigger if it is not during their work hours, or on a day off.
The next part for me to test would be if I left a sim on a career lot, if that would affect them. That would be an interesting result.

Haven't remembered to get a screenshot, but a few observations:

Can you please merge? This issue is the same issue in this thread: http://answers.ea.com/t5/The-Sims-4-Bug-Reports/Loading-House-During-Sims-Work-Hours-Causes-Sim-to-Leave-Work/m-p/4718482#U4718482
- crinrict10 years agoHero+
Merged this
Is this actually still occurring ? I have switched households once to test this and didn't have the issue but it could have been a coincidence
While they still do stand in front of the house if they are not at work, the ones that were, still were at work.

This is still an issue.
- canelacaliente10 years agoSeasoned Ace
Still occurring as of the February 2016 patch.
- When loading houses Sims who are supposed to be at work/school during the set hours are standing in front of the house and lose work performance because they are late
- Sims who are on a community lot while inactive/away don't automatically go to work/school and end up being late unless you switch to them and manually make them go.
- Sims still run down the street to work/school causing them to be late. The workaround doesn't always work.
- Sims lose the option to be brought from inactive lots to the active lot during work/school hours. This causes the Sim to be late to work or school unless you manually go to the lot and make them go. This rarely happens when you are playing a Sim in an active career and their spouse has to go to work.

In the Sims 4 I play with multiple households en let life continue, so they are getting older even though I do not play with the household. I've noticed that if I want to play with another household, instead of the one I last played with, there's always a sim late for work. Can you guys create an update which makes sure the sim will go to work by its own? So when I play with another household at let's say wednesday 22:23, my sim is off to work when he has to.
I play a single household, but whenever my Sims are at work or school and i log off (after saving, of course) or go to manage world. On retunrning the sims are at home and it is as if they have finished work/school. They have not made progress in performance, because they have not been at work or school long enough. I am unable to send them back to work or school.
I am not using any mods or CC
This issue started after the last patch and/ot the installation of Romantic Garden stuff pack. Not sure after which one it started, but was after one of these two.
I prefer to save and log off when it suits me best, instead of having to wait for them to be home from work/school.
I have added a screenshot where the adult left for work at 9 am and should be working untill 12.00 am. The child should still be in school until 3pm, but as you can see in the screenshot, both are in front of the home lot at 9.53 am (just after I logged in again).

Without switching families in between ?
I only see it if I play another family for a while.
Loading/reloading isn't an issue for me.
Did you try repairing the game ?
- Anonymous9 years ago
I have about 5 or 6 different household/families in my game and regularly switch between them during game play. However, what has been happening is that every single time I start up my game or switch households the sims (no matter where they were or what they were doing previously) end up in front of their house. Normally i would just deal with it however it has been messing up my game play. They sims get very unhappy (due to their needs not being met) and they are always missing work which has made my sims lose their job. Also if two sims from two of my different household are with each other previously either building a friendship or relationship and then I turn my game off and come back to it the data is normally lost. i've been searching the internet for hours trying to find a fix but every thread I have found has absolutely no fix! Please help its because very difficult to deal with!

I've merged your post with existing report.
It's by design that Sims stay outside your house if you play rotationally. The work thing is a bug (this thread). The need has also been reported.
Also relationship culling on acquaintances is also by design if you play rotationally. The decay being very fast now is something the QA is aware of. Here's some more info to that: http://forums.thesims.com/en_US/discussion/892376/relationship-culling-has-led-to-baby-neglect

Just wanted to say this work bug seems to be fixed as of 15 June patch. I've now tested in 2 different files, with and without mods, and the sims correctly go back to work or school if that is where they were when you saved and exited. Not tried rotationally 'cause I don't really play that way.

This is a big irritation for me. I am fed up with having to tell them to go to work or to school although I haven't had any actual detriment to either happen to a sim yet. I also sometimes have sims which need to be told multiple times to stop doing what they were doing when I loaded the house in order to go to school/work.
I don't have the jobs EP, nor any mods or CC. It happens in my regular game pretty much every house switch and as all the jobs have different work hours it is impossible to avoid switching during those hours (and shouldn't have to...?)
It is maybe unrelated but when I switch across the house occupants also almost always have very depleted needs which maybe adds to their reluctance to go to work/school? The game doesn't seem to take good care of them in my absence :/
And one other thing which relates to this rotational issue. I once went to a house and found the toddler stranded on the roof, in an area where there were no doors and there was no access point for him to have got there by any reasonable means. I had to rebuild the roof to get him out safely :/ All these things relate to oddness that goes on when you rotate out and in, so I think they must all somehow be linked? - 8 years ago
I haven't played with sending a sim to work and then leaving the lot, but I have noticed that whenever I load into a lot with a sim who has a career, if it's during the hours they should be at work, they're usually just farting around the house doing their own thing. I try to save/exit the game when all the sims at at home. So it seems like I go play a different household, and when I come back to one with a sim that holds a job, they don't go. Unless I am actively on their lot, they don't go to work.
Ex: My sim works a 9A-4P job, M-F. I just loaded into their lot, it is Wed at 10:49a. He is sitting around doing dishes. No. Stop that. Go to work, you late bum.
My autonomy is at full so I assume that'd be part of it......
Very sad this has been an issue for two years and no fixes yet ☹️
- unseenlarks8 years agoSeasoned Acehey. i couldn't find one, so made a new thread using the current format. https://answers.ea.com/t5/Bug-Reports/rotational-play-causes-Sims-to-miss-work/m-p/6666706
- crinrict8 years agoHero+
Do you see the issue in your own game ? @unseenlarks
I left the old one on purpose cause the current status is a bit unclear.
- SnookieBlossoms3 years agoNew Novice
Even that didn't work. I'm so bummed my households are falling apart. I put so much work into them. Now the families just do nothing if not altogether in one single household. This causes performance loses, etc. It sucks! Why do they just go to work and school without you telling them to do so when you're not actively playing them? I hate this. My plan was to populate the Sims with better townies and residents because the randomly generated ones seem to be all unemployed, ugly, and without skills.
