Re: [OPEN] [DHD] Empty Gig List

SOLVED! THIS HAS NOTHING TO DO WITH MODS

Make sure that you fill the empty homes in all of your sim worlds so that you have clients. Selecting "Fill empty homes" from the game options menu does nothing for this pack. You have to make or download sims and fill the empty homes in order to have gigs. Once the homes are filled this issue is fixed.

Product:
 The Sims 4
Platform:PC
Which language are you playing the game in? English
How often does the bug occur? Every time (100%)
What is your current game version number? 1.75.125.1030
What expansions, game packs, and stuff packs do you have installed? Spa Day, Outdoor Retreat, Dine-out, City Living, Get To Work, Movie Hangout, Holiday Celebration, Seasons, Tiny Living, Backyard Stuff, Get famous, Island Living, Laundry Day, Moschino, Parenthood, Vintage Glamour, My First Pet, Toddler, Jungle Adventure, Spooky, Kids Room, eco lifestyle, Nifty Knitting, Discover University, Cats & Dogs, Snowy Escape, Realm of Magic, Dream Home Decorator
Steps: How can we find the bug ourselves? Join Interior Decorator Career then select gigs from the work panel.
What happens when the bug occurs? There are no gigs at all available. The panel is completely blank even when view "All" is selected.
What do you expect to see? I expect to see some available gigs and some gigs that are greyed out to indicate that they are unavailable.
Have you installed any customization with the game, e.g. Custom Content or Mods? No my mods were off and then I tried clearing the folder completely so it is empty now.

Steps taken?

I tried quitting and rejoining the interior decorator career - nothing.

I tried waiting a day to see if the gigs would become available later - nothing

I tried exiting the game completely and relaunching - nothing.

I emptied my mods folder and repaired the game - nothing.

I looked around to see if anyone else was reporting this issue but so far nothing.

EDIT: Upon further inspection this is only happening on my long-term save file. If I start a game from scratch the gig panel is working correctly. Do you have any suggestions on what to do? I would like to continue with my generational game.

Yup..same problem here. I’ve heard from reviews that this pack is buggy - didn’t expect for it to be straight up unplayable lol

  • @jpkarlsen

I have no such item and my cache is empty. The gigs work on a new save file but not on my old save file which is a major problem.

@NicholasDSOrigin Same only it also happened in a new game for me. All repairs, all attempts to fix, everything. This is the first I've been able to find anyone having the same issue. I'm glad you posted about it.

This is also happening with me except I started a new game specifically for this pack. Also, I have no gigs popping up at all, not even the gig pannel itself lol. Just shows level 1 and my performance level. I heard there is supposed to be a clipboard with your gigs? yeah, that isn't showing up for me.

I also repaired the game twice, will have to start a new game to see if that works.

@jpkarlsen already did that. I did everything @NicholasDSOrigin also did besides starting a new game. I saw a few other people having that issue so maybe it's a bug from the game itself.. I hope that we won't have to start a new game in the end bec I created so many sims of my own and build lot of generations

If you for some reason have associated .package files with a program you may only see "localthumbcache" without the extension. But you will have it since it is generated when you start the game. Since it works in a new save it looks like your old save was permanently damaged. Sometimes outdated mods do that. Try to restore an older version of that save and see if that will work. If it does make a backup and start testing your Mods. There are a few that are known to be broken with the new career and needs updating or removing.

    @summergirl345

Move your Mods folder to the Desktop and delete localthumbcache.package. Then test in a new game.

If it works now check for updates to your Mods and CC. Add it back a little at a time while testing until you have found all that are broken.

  • @jpkarlsen

Well I do not have it all despite what you say so you'll just have to accept it. I was not using any mods and had not for a couple of months at least without any problems.

Perhaps because other people are also experiencing this, some in new games from scratch and not long-term save files it is not a problem with my individual save file and may be caused by a bug in the game? I know you guys like to place the blame squarely on anyone experiencing a glitch but the sims has a lot of bugs all the time.

Try to look a little harder to see if you should not have this file that you can see at the bottom of this screenshot here:

The reason we always suspect mods is that in the majority of cases that turns out to be the case So when I can't replicate an issue in my game the first thing I suspect is Mods/CC. so start troubleshooting there. There are a couple of threads where it has been determined that Mods are the case. Please see if you can use solutions mentioned there.

Alright I did find the cache file after the 5th time looking. It's not like there are a lot of files to look through so I don't know why I could not find it. I deleted it and am repairing the game through orgin for the 3rd time. I have about 26 packs so it takes awhile and I will absolutely update and let you know if this is a possible solution.

I have already stated multiple times there are no mods in use and the folder is empty. If you don't have any not mod-related suggestions to give me I will simply give up and hope there is a patch for this down the road.

  • @jpkarlsen

So deleting that file and repairing the game did not work.

If my save file is somehow corrupted from some long-ago use of mods I am screwed because this is a generational game already in it's 17th generation; losing out on over 7 generations and paying $33 for the pleasure is ridiculous.

You wanna go ahead and blame mods and consider this solved be my guest but I will just have to abandon this file and hope there is a patch for it down the road. It is just a shame because I was really looking forward to this pack.

    @NicholasDSOrigin

You already confirmed that it worked in a new game without Mods so we know that it was caused by mods. Permanent damage to a save usually happens because the user notices something in his save and do a Save and Exit making the issue permanent. The correct thing to do in such a situation is to exit without saving. As I wrote earlier you can try to restore an older save (The game saves 4 backups) from before this happened. In the future I will recommend making a backup of the Saves folder when there is an update to the game so it will be easy to restore everything in case something happens.

The same thing is happening to me. I am beginning to think that the "clipboard" is a myth.

@NicholasDSOrigin I merged your post now with the master.

Seems removing mods doesn't solve this. Not sure what's causing it at this point

I tested one save so far and was able to get the list back.

If anyone else wants to send me their save, that'd be great.
  • [CM Edit: removed excessive allcaps]I told you this had nothing to do with mods and today I fixed it! So hang your head in shame for not considering it could be anything else in the world.

    To everyone else:

As mentioned before I was playing a generational game SO after 17 generations nobody lived in any of the worlds. This expansion pack requires you to fill the empty homes with sims you make or download so that you have clients.  Selecting "Fill empty homes" from the options menu does nothing at all. After I added 1-2 households into every game world my gigs showed up like they are supposed to. So if you are having this problem make sure that you haven't been playing so long that all your sims died out. You're welcome <3
