He didn't actually die, but he would have if Dario and Isabelle had stayed there longer. Actually, I might go and check... I left almost instantly as soon as I saw him reacting to the sun like that, because you can't save or travel when a sim is dying. He's probably not dead. If he did die, I would have included pictures of the death :D

Uh, he technically wasn't dying dying, just for the fact that it was obvious his vampire energy need was going down and he would have been dying had it been allowed to go down any more. Rephrase needed? probably. Will I do it? no
You can't travel to another lot in the first place while any sim on the lot is in the process of dying. They left the lot before he technically started dying dying. If that makes any sense. And because they left the lot, his needs would have immediately been suspended (therefore his vamp energy would have stopped going down). I don't think vampires can die of sun exposure if they aren't in the neighbourhood that the active lot is on.
So what I mean by Vlad dying in the background is just that his vampire energy was rapidly going down, but he did not reach the point of no return. At that moment that Vlad was burning up, he would still have had time to go under shelter and stop his vampire energy from going down. And the point of no return is when this happens
And here would be where the "You cannot do this while a sim is dying!" message would show up if you tried to travel or save or go into build mode, etc. Here is where the vampire would not be able to go under shelter and stop their energy from falling, because it is already empty and they are pretty much already dead
