2) things like beach towels or lounge chairs are not allowed in the inventory?
3) accessories and makeup allowed on Sims?
4) if a Sim dies - game over?
I don't watch TV shows :/

1) no, you can use any sim you want, make it difficult as much as you like
2) if you bring a towel, then you can only bring a towel, same with the chair
3) yes, accessories an makeup are allowed
4) try to not make them die, they can retire any moment if things get dangerous
