Alphabet SuperLegacy Challenge

So @NRowe started a discussion about exploring all of the game play in the Sims. @elanorbreton suggested going in alphabetical order and this gave me an idea for a legacy challenge. What if each generation represented a different letter of the alphabet, and is charged with completing all of the game play related to that letter. I'm going to start writing the rules here and update as I play through it.

Overall Rules

  • Ignore any objective related to a pack you don’t own. You can choose to skip a generation if your pack limitations leave it extremely short on content.
  • No cheat codes that help you move through your objectives faster. Want to cheat a promotion? No go. Want to wear a toilet on your head? You do you. The only money cheat you are allowed to use is “freerealestate on” when you move the founding family in.
  • No rules whatsoever about aging.
  • No rules whatsoever governing non-heirs.
  • Just because one generation has something as an objective, doesn’t mean that other generations aren’t allowed to do it. For example, Gen 2 (Letter b) is required to visit a Beach lot. That doesn’t mean the other generations can’t visit the beach just for fun.
  • If you don’t have at least three traits in the assigned letter, you have to randomize the rest. You cannot accept self-discovery traits starting with a different letter.
  • Each heir's name must begin with their assigned letter. If they own a pet, the pet's name must start with that letter too.
  • Likes and Dislikes: The heir can only have the likes/dislikes assigned to their generation. Music preferences are assigned when the heir ages up to Child. Hobby preferences are assigned as they become available. Color preferences are assigned when they age up to Child. From that point forward, all the heir's outfits must prominently feature at least one of their favorite colors, and avoid the colors they dislike. If you decorate/redecorate a space for them you must consider their color preferences. Fashion and interior design preferences are assigned when they age up to teen. From that point forward, all of their outfits will prominently feature at least one of their preferred styles (to the extent possible-some styles might not have swimwear options for example). If you decorate/redecorate a space for them you must consider their interior design preferences.
  • Lot Traits and Challenges: The heir must have all of their assigned lot challenges equipped in all of their designated residences. If the heir has three assigned lot traits or less, they also must be assigned to all of their designated residences. If the heir has four or more lot traits for their generation, they can change which three are in place when they switch to a different residence.
  • The heir's transitional aspirations (the ones that decide the bonus traits) have to be aspirations from their generation. If they have more than two aspirations, you decide which two and which order. If they only have one aspiration, you can pick any aspiration to be the other one. You don't have to complete the other aspiration, just use it for the transition to get the bonus trait. If the generation has no aspirations, pick any two aspirations for the transitions.

Some notes about how I alphabetize things:
Spoiler

  • There are a bazillion aspirations starting with the word "Master." I decided that, instead of putting them all in the M Gen, I would alphabetize them based on what the person is supposed to Master. For the sake of consistency, I did the same for aspirations that start with words synonymous with Master (e.g. Chief, Expert). This is why Master Vampire is alphabetized under V and Expert Nectar Maker is alphabetized under N.
  • Some generations feel like a marathon and others feel more like standard game play. There were a few letters, though, that had so little game play associated with them that I decided to skip them altogether. For example, a Q gen, if it existed, would have nothing to do but live in a Quake Zone, admiring their Queen Anne decor. In these cases, the associated game play is moved to a different gen based on the second word. This is why Queen Anne is now A Gen and Quake Zone is Z Gen. If there is no second word, it is alphabetized by the second syllable. This is why T Gen has to live in UpTown.
  • Branched careers are mostly alphabetized under the overall career, because, in many cases, the branches are pretty redundant, especially the rabbit hole careers. If a generation has no associated career, it can steal one from another generation based on branch name. I've also split careers into branches if there's a substantive difference between the two.
  • Words starting with "Ex" are alphabetized under X.

Gen Zero-The Founder's Parent(s)
Spoiler
When you begin the legacy, the A Gen founder will be an infant or toddler. They will need at least one responsible adult in the house to take care of them. Gen Zero can have any traits, careers, hobbies (if any) or aspirations. They can ignore their aspiration. They do not have to reach the top of any skills or careers. Their sole purpose in the challenge is to support A Gen in progressing to young adulthood while achieving any preteen or teen-specific objectives along the way.
The "Reside in," "Lot Trait," "Visit" and "Other Gameplay" objectives do not apply until A Gen reaches young adulthood. Gen Zero can raise them anywhere and use any lot traits. For future generations, those categories also do not apply until they reach young adulthood.

  • B Gen-The Big Happy Botanist

Bianca and Duane are now young adults living in their own place. I'm going to restate Bianca's objectives here, minus the ones she already accomplished, plus the ones that apply now that she's a young adult:

    Teen+ Skills- Baking
Teen+ Aspirations-Best-Selling Author, Big Happy Family, Beach Life
    Careers- Botanist, Business
    Collections-Buried Treasure
    Reside In-Bedrock Strait, Bridgeview
Lot Traits and Challenges: Bracing Breezes
    Visit- Bar, Beach
    Aspiration Rewards-Brave
Other Gameplay- Keep a Bubalus. Hire a Butler. Have a Birthday party and a Black and White bash. Attend Bear Night at a Bar. Bribe a Bouncer. Woohoo in a Bush. Own a Bee box, a Buffet table, a Bulletin board, a Buildem Blocks table, a Bonfire, a Bubble blower and a Basketball hoop.

Bianca and Duane now have a small house in Bridgeview, right across from Kepler Court, a library and sci fi club with a telescope. Its a perfect place for Bianca to work on the logic skill she needs for her gardening career. Because their house has the Bracing Breezes trait, they set up a Basketball hoop in the yard so Duane can work on his fitness.
    Spoiler

They lost no time in getting started with their family. Bianca's baking skill helps with her hunger. Free honey doesn't hurt either. Because Bianca always performs the tasks for her gardener career at home, she's set up a garden with a Bee Box to help fertilize it.
    Spoiler

Working from home gives her more time in the day, which she uses to work on becoming a Best-Selling Author. She sometimes invites the Avant Gardes over. I've purchased the max inspired vibe as a club perk, which guarantees that anything she writes during club meetings will be Excellent at least. The time seems to go by quickly until she is in labor. Apparently there is a healthcare worker shortage in the Sims, because there was no doctor to help her at the hospital. She ended up giving birth to her daughter Kalani at home. Either it's a glitch or the game is getting too real.
    Spoiler

Publishing a tenth book gives Bianca enough aspiration points to earn the Brave trait. Now she won't have to worry about skeletons and ghosts. She advances to the Botanist branch of her career, so she now spends as much time analyzing her plants as cultivating them.
    Spoiler

Now that Kalani is in elementary school, she enjoys playing with the Buildem Blocks table and reading kind messages from her parents on the Bulletin Board.
    Spoiler

Kalani enjoys taking care of their new Bubalus, Barnaby. Bianca makes a point of reading Kalani stories as part of her Big Happy Family aspiration.
    Spoiler

Duane takes the family to Ohanali Beach, where he spent so much of his time growing up. Bianca thinks she would really enjoy the Beach Life. She's also discovered that if you dig in the sand, you can discover Buried Treasure.
    Spoiler

As a teen, Kalani is popular. In addition to friends, she has a girlfriend, Fatima. With Kalani more independent, Bianca and Duane can spend more time going out. They throw a Kava party at the Sand Bar in Ohanali, helping Bianca complete level 1 of the Beach Life aspiration, and Bianca tries out her new Brave trait by attending Bear night at the 8 Bells. Completely unfazed.
    Spoiler

Kalani is a young adult now, old enough to marry Fatima. They have a beach wedding under the stars. It's so romantic that Bianca and Duane sneak over to a bush afterwards for some woohoo.
    Spoiler

With Kalani moved out, Bianca and Duane waste no time in trying for a second child. Little Cedric is a Cautious infant who is happiest at home. I've decided that the heir will be their third child. Because there are more traits that start with C than one sim can have, especially if you don't have trait discovery, I'm giving Cedric the leftover traits. As a toddler, Cedric is a Charmer who likes to be with people, although he also enjoys his big sister's hand me down Buildem Blocks.
    Spoiler

Bianca has written her third Best-seller, completing her Best-selling Author aspiration. This means she can now write the Book of Life. Although her books bring in good money and some fame, she's still not famous enough to get VIP treatment, which annoys her. She decides to bribe the bouncer at Orchid A Gogo to let her into the VIP section. It turns out she's the only one there, so she just hangs out listening to her favorite Blues music.
    Spoiler

Bianca is now a Phd of Pollen, the top of the Botanist career. Duane celebrates by throwing her a Black and White bash at the Von Haunt Chalet Gardens.
    Spoiler

They are expecting their third child, the heir. Since their lot in Bridgeview is too small to accommodate more than one child, they move to a larger home in Bedrock Strait, Oasis Springs.
    Spoiler

    Spoiler

With all the space in the house, Anelise and Antwan invite Albert and Zenith to move in with them. Albert and Bianca hit it off right away. He takes her bowling which she enjoys, even though she has a lot to learn. Because Albert has the childish trait he also thinks Bianca's rude manners are funny, and he laughs along with the other kids at the playground when she burps or farts.
    Spoiler

Anelise has made it to the top of the interstellar smuggler career. She revels in her ill-gotten gains. She decides she wants to become an actress, to start out with she tries out everything from commercials to medical dramas.

    Spoiler

Before long, Bianca ages up to teen. She learns that she likes Baking, as well as Boho and Basic styles. She hasn't lost her love of literature, and dreams of becoming a Best-selling Author. Anelise encourages her to join the Avant Gardes to hone her writing skills.
    Spoiler

She's also acquired the Bro trait. Since bros hang out at gyms, she decides she wants to become a Bodybuilder and asks her mother to train her. She also spends time at the gym, where she meets Duane, a fellow Bro. Bianca thinks Duane is cute, but at this point lacking finesse and charm is sort of Bianca's brand. She wishes she were Beguiling.
    Spoiler

Bianca starts a job as a Bean Blender (Barista) to earn some pocket money. Learning about herbal syrups has lead to her interest in gardening. She's starting to wonder if she might be right for a career as a Botanist.
    Spoiler

Working out on the rock climbing wall gives her level 4 fitness, one of the objectives for the Bodybuilder aspiration. Now she has enough points to purchase the Beguiling trait. She invites Duane to go to the gym with her and beguiles him. Within minutes they're having their first kiss.
    Spoiler

Anelise finally brings home a four-eyed red coral, completing her collection of Aliens. She puts it on the coffee table to admire it. The rest of the family are kind of creeped out, except for Antwan, who had a pet coral as a child on planet Sixam.
    Spoiler

Having reached the heights of the Barista career by becoming a Latte Artiste, Bianca decides she's ready for a new challenge. She hears there's an opening for a nanny (Babysitter), so she takes the job. She loves working with children and wonders if she will some day have a Big Happy Family of her own. She does very well at her new job and is soon promoted to daycare assistant. She rushes home to tell her family the news, but is shaken to find Ribby Corporis waiting outside. She knows that Ribby's harmless and is only there to tidy up. Maybe she should be more Brave?
    Spoiler

While filming a romantic scene for the movie "Tournament of Honor" Anelise masters the Acting skill. The movie is a hit and propels her to the top of the Acting career, in addition to earning her a starlight Accolade.
    Spoiler

During a moonlit walk in the park, Bianca and Duane exchange promise rings. They hope to marry right after high school and start on their Big Happy Family.
    Spoiler

Anelise's movie "Tea and Treachery" is so successful it cements her status as a global superstar. This allows her to place a star on the walk of fame, completing the Master Actor aspiration. A Gen is complete! While Anelise finishes her final aspiration, Bianca is soon to finish her first. Although she is grubby and tired, she takes that one final shot needed to master the fitness skill and complete the Bodybuilder aspiration.
    Spoiler

Bianca ages up to young adult at a small party at home. She now has the Bad Manners and Hot-Headed (Yike!) traits. Duane was there and aged up too. They eloped out of the living room and moved out to Bridgeview in Newcrest the same night.
    Spoiler
  • A Gen-The Space Jam Generation

Anelise is a young adult on her own now, so I'm going to restate her objectives, adding the ones that apply now that she's grown, and removing the ones that she's already achieved:
Likes- Acting, Alternative Music, Art Deco and Queen Anne Decor
    Dislikes-None
    Teen + Skills- Acting
    Teen+ Aspirations-Angling Ace, Master Actor
    Careers- Astronaut, Athlete, Actor
    Collections- Aliens, Ancient Omiscan Artifacts
Reside in- an Apartment in Arts Quarter, Acquisition Butte
    Visit- Arts Center, Ancient Ruins
Other Gameplay- Join Avante Guards Club. Attend Alien night at a bar. Marry an Alien. Adopt a child. Own an Arcade machine.

Anelise has taken a two bedroom apartment at Medina Studios in the Arts Quarter. This gives her plenty of space to work out and to have a study for her archeology. I considered redecorating in her preferred styles, but since she has to move to the most expensive neighborhood in Oasis Springs later on, I thought it better to save money. Besides, the apartment actually comes with a number of Queen Anne items. Anelise loves the Arts Quarter. Not only is it convenient to visit the Art Center, but there is also a fishing spot in the neighborhood, so she can continue working on becoming an Angling Ace.
    Spoiler

Anelise puts her new Museum Patron trait to use by throwing a party for her friends at Municipal Muses. This gives her the charisma she needs to excel in the athlete career and before long, she's getting promotions.
    Spoiler

She couldn't have done it without Kate, so she takes Kate on vacation to Selvadorada. This also gives Anelise the opportunity to search for more artifacts to complete her Ancient Omiscan Artifacts collection. She then takes them back to her study in Medina studios, hoping that they'll be the artifacts she needs. Her archeology skill is also a source of income because museums pay her to authenticate their artifacts.
    Spoiler

Zenith invites Anelise to go to Geekcon with her. Anelise tries out the space ship and is instantly hooked on the excitement of space travel. She learns that being an astronaut requires logic skill, so she starts working on that.
    Spoiler

Anelise meets an alien named Charlie Hopper at Alien Night at the Shrieking Llama. He works as a gym trainer which suits his energetic personality. He has a crew of extraterrestrial friends ("Charlie's Aliens" if you will) and Anelise starts hanging out with them. The red head is Devon, who has the Childish, Geek and Jealous traits. The guy with the bun is Deonte, an e-sport gamer who dislikes working out and has the Self-Assured, Romantic and Vegetarian traits. The one sitting on the poof, glowering at Charlie's poor violin performance, is Antwan, a detective who likes playing violin and has the Self-Assured, Good and Neat traits.
    Spoiler

Anelise has had a sort of a thing with her non-commital neighbor Naoki, but she wants to pursue a more serious relationship now. She's been debating between Deonte and Antwan, but, since they're all friends together, she didn't want to make a move until she was absolutely sure. She decided the time was right when she was promoted to Hall of Famer, the top of the athlete career. She invited Antwan to celebrate with her at a lounge and she started flirting with him.
    Spoiler

With her athletic goals achieved, she decides to pursue her dream, that started at Geekcon, of becoming an astronaut.
    Spoiler

Things have been going really well with Antwan. A friend of hers invited her to the Romance Festival and she consulted with the Romance Guru. She invited Antwan over and proposed to him in the heat of the moment. They were married on the spot.
    Spoiler

They day after they were married, Antwan mind erased Anelise so that they're back to being acquaintances. I'm going to have to watch him for this going forward. Now he has to sleep in an inflatable bed in the study until their relationship is back up. Anelise invites him to go fishing with her to help build their friendship back up. This results in her completing the Angling Ace aspiration.
    Spoiler

Anelise has decided to get back into the acting hobby that she starting dabbling with as a teen. Since plays are a type of literature, I thought it appropriate to add improved acting skill as a perk for the Avant Gardes. She and Hugo Villareal entertain customers at the South Square Cafe with their performances. At one point, she attracts the attention of a film director named Miho.
    Spoiler

Anelise is promoted to Astronaut (level 7 in the career) and she celebrates by inviting friends to a party in the Ancient Ruins. It's a fun time. Toward the end of the night, Anelise and Antwan try for a baby in a nearby bush.
    Spoiler

With a growing family, Anelise and Antwan decide that their apartment is too small, so they purchase Affluista Mansion in Acquisition Butte. Of course, there's not much point in a having a spacious mansion, if you don't have a big arcade machine.
    Spoiler
  • Zero Gen-Meet the Lettermans

This stage of the challenge focuses on the parents of the A Gen founder, as they support the founder through all of the objectives for infancy through the teen years. I'm going to restate the A Gen objectives here, but leaving out objectives related to packs I don't own, as well as objectives/categories that don't apply until she reaches young adulthood:

    Toddler-Angelic Trait.
    Child-Artistic Prodigy aspiration
    Teen-Argumentative Trait
Final traits-Pick three: Art Lover, Active, Adventurous, Ambitious
Likes- Acting, Alternative Music, Art Deco and Queen Anne Decor
    Dislikes-None
    Teen + Skills- Acting, Archeology
Teen+ Aspirations- Angling Ace, Archeology Scholar
    Collections- Aliens, Ancient Omiscan Artifacts
    Aspiration Rewards-Always Welcome, Antiseptic

Because I don't own Growing Together, I created the founder as a toddler to start out with. Anelise Letterman is an Angelic darling. Her father, Albert Letterman is working hard to help her achieve the happy toddler trait because of all the skills she has to learn later on. This is slower for her as an Angelic toddler than it would be if she had most other traits, because the Angelic trait doesn't come with any learning advantages.
    Spoiler

Soon she's ready to start elementary school! As an Art Lover, she hopes to become an Artistic Prodigy. One of her favorite pass times is drawing at her activity table, then her father puts her drawings up by his video editing station. He has a channel where he posts cute videos of her. His dad channel actually brings in more income than his wife does slaving away at Rainy Day Entertainment. This time in the public eye will prepare Anelise for her future as a champion athlete turned space explorer turned movie star (her adult life is basically Space Jam).
    Spoiler

Anelise saw her mother, Zenith Letterman, dancing to Alternative music on the patio and decided to join in. She discovered her first like!
    Spoiler

It's not too soon to work on her Argumentative trait. For Talk Like a Pirate Day, Anelise heads to the playground across the street and accuses everyone of being scurvy villains, until I realized that this is actually related to manners, not conflict resolution. So I have her argue with everyone about music instead. Getting conflict resolution down can be pretty slow going. Later on, when she's made some progress as an Artistic Prodigy, I spend some of her aspiration points on the Always Welcome trait. I was testing this out in the home of her playground enemy, Leo Bheeda, when they got into a fight. That's when her conflict resolution really started to drop.
    Spoiler

The time comes for Anelise to age up to a teen. Her parents celebrate by taking her on vacation to Selvadorada. This is perfect because, in addition appreciating Omiscan art, Anelise now has the Adventurous trait. She invites her art loving friend Taku along. The next morning, Albert takes Anelise fishing, something they never have a chance to do in Del Sol Valley. The tranquility of the moment causes her to day dream about becoming an Angling Ace.
    Spoiler

Later that day, Anelise drags Taku out to the Bellomisia Trail Head. He may share her love of art, but not her sense of adventure. After a bit, he heads back to the villa, leaving her to hack her way through the jungle on her own. She finally finds a place to dig for artifacts. This is when she realizes that she wants to be an Archeology Scholar.
    Spoiler

When she returns home, she develops some new likes. Her interest in historic art has lead her to appreciate historic interior design, particularly the Art Deco and Queen Anne styles. Albert and Zenith have been doing well money-wise and they give her the budget to design an Art Deco-Queen Anne fusion bed room. It turned out better than I thought it would. Later, she visits Taku's house for movie night. The powerful performances inspire her with a love of acting.
    Spoiler

She's also starting to develop career goals. A stop at an ice skating rink has her struggling to stay upright, but at the same time, thinking about how exciting a career as an athlete would be. She decides to go for it. She meets with a trainer named Kate Horn who thinks she has potential and Anelise decides to commit to her training.
    Spoiler

She hasn't forgotten about her aspirations, though. She still takes time now and then for fishing. She also spends every weekend vacationing in Selvadorada. Setting up a third excavation site in the jungle completes one of her Archeology Scholar objectives, giving her enough points to purchase the Antiseptic trait. I'm not sure I've ever even used this reward trait, but I have to admit it's very useful for a sim who spends a lot of time working out and digging in the dirt.
    Spoiler

The Neighborhood Brawl is the perfect opportunity to decrease conflict resolution values. Anelise and Duane Talla get into a fight at the gym, putting her in line for the Argumentative trait.
    Spoiler

Still working away at the Archeology Scholar aspiration, Anelise joins the Avant Guardes in hopes of getting some style tips for writing her book on Archeology. She finally completes the aspiration by regaling family friend Maria with an archeology lecture.
    Spoiler

The time has come for Anelise to age up to young adult. She now has the Ambitious and Argumentative traits. She must leave home to live in the Arts Quarter.
    Spoiler

  • @SerraNolwen Yes, there's supposed to be a Gen Zero who are the parent(s) of the founder. I've added rules for Gen Zero to the top post. I've been planning on posting an overview of my Gen Zero phase of the challenge once its done. I might go ahead and just post the preteen years, though. Now that she's a teen, she has so much going on as an an argumentative amateur archeologist and aspiring angler who aims to be an all-star athlete as an adult.
  • This looks potentially interesting, and quite challenging! Some generations will have a lot of goals to accomplish. If the point is to do everything in the game, though, I'm curious as to why you decided to go by main career rather than by career branch. Was it just to avoid the challenge becoming too long and difficult?

Also, a couple small things you forgot for A : Neighborhoods could include Anchorpoint Wharf in San Sequoia and infant food should probably include applesauce (possibly instead of smashed avocado, which could be kept for the S generation? I feel like it's easier to avoid forgetting things if, when it comes to things that show up in in-game menus, you go by the actual first letter.)

Anyways, I've created a family to try this challenge along with you. I created a starter Sim to be the parent of the first generation. Was that the intent? So far, I just have an angelic toddler named Alice who absolutely loves applesauce! She is also a Spellcaster from an Ancient bloodline, just because I wanted to throw that in and play around with it a little. I don't know if I'll share the whole process, but I'll be keeping a look on this thread to see what you come up with and make sure I don't forget anything!
  • @elanorbreton I've added naming conventions to the overall rules, good idea. On the other hand, I don't want to go on university majors, because that's like adding an additional career, particularly if the major is unrelated to their assigned careers. For most generations, careers are the most time consuming part of completing the generation. I am going to use university names, though. The B generation has to go to Britechester and the F generation has to go to Foxbury.

@blueybluesky I never even thought of pets. For generational requirements, I'll go off the species name (B is for bubalus, C is for cat, D is for dog), I think I'll also add a requirement that if a player wants an optional cat, dog or horse, they have to use a breed starting with their assigned letter.
I decided to use neighborhood names instead of world names by default. On the other hand, if there aren't any neighborhoods that start with the assigned letter, I assign a world instead. For example there are no neighborhoods starting with E, so the E generation has to live in Evergreen Harbor, any neighborhood.
  • You could have adopt a pet and the breed needs to start with the generations letter. They can also live in the worlds that start with that letter.
  • The A gen could also go to uni and do Art History. And have their first name beginning with A.

    :)
  • WoW. That is going to make for some super unique Sims! :o
