Basement question

I have an existing house on a foundation that I’d like to add a basement to. What is the best way to do this?

I thought about removing outside steps, lowering the foundation height, adding the basement, and then re-raising the foundation but haven’t tried yet. I don’t want to mess something up.

How would you do it.

  • There are two ways:
1 - There Is A Basement Option In Base Game - But It Works Weird - If you are on floor 3, it will make room in floor 2
2 - Just Go On Floor 1- , 2- etc. And Make Room Like On Normal Lot
    I Think I Helped.
  • Right. I understand how the tool itself works. I just remember back in sims 3, adding a basement later was a pain. I was wondering if there any gotchas before I attempted it.
  • The Sim 4 tool is much easier to use than the Sim 3 one. You shouldn't have any issues beyond figuring out where to put the stairs.
  • Thanks. I assume under the stairs to the second story is good or are there pathing issues like in sims 3?
  • That should work, but you may have to remove the 2nd floor stairs first, place the basement stairs, then replace the 2nd floor stairs.
