BUILD YOUR WORLD CHALLENGE!
Version 1.5 - updated Dec 29th
Hello everyone! This challenge is an adapted version of Build a City Challenge and Prosperity Challenge, from The Sims 2. It was based on my favorite versions of both of them, that you can find here:
- Build a City Challenge, by Cindy, from Pleasant Sims.
- Prosperity Challenge, by the user discordkitty, from ModTheSims Forums.
Objective: build and develop a The Sims 4 world and it's community from scratch. This is not necessarily a build challenge, but a build-while-playing for sure. You will need to create residential and community lots and households, but you may use the gallery or external downloads to do so. No build or CAS skills required.
Starting off:
- Randomize a number between 1-5. This will represent how many Households you must have to begin the challenge.
- For each family, randomize a number between 1-6. This will represent how many Sims each family must have.
- The first Sim from each family must be YA or Adult. Randomize a number between 1-6 for each household member to decide their life stage. (1- Toddler, 2- Child, 3- Teen, 4- Young-Adult, 5- Adult, 6- Elder).
- For each household member, randomize a number between 1-2 to decide their gender (1- Male 2- Female). You may customize their gender as you wish.
- You must randomize traits for every household member. Don't use Story Mode - your Sims must start without skills or careers. You may choose their appearances, aspirations and family ties. Only traits, gender and life stage must be random.
- After creating your households, choose a world to move them in. The world must be completely empty, no lots allowed. You may use Newcrest or choose another world and manually bulldoze everything. It's highly recommended to choose a medium-to-large world. You must move your households into this world.
- You may build houses for your Sims, download them from the gallery or copy a premade house from any other world. It's up to you. The only restriction is that your Sims must be able to afford the houses with their initial funds.
You may use cheats to give your Adults and Elders a degree. Randomize a number between 1-15 to decide if the Sim will have a degree (1-5: No degree; 6-10: Degree; 11-12: Distinguished Degree; 13-14: Honours Degree; 15: Honours Distinguished Degree).
Game options: for this challenge, you must use some specific settings. Aging must be on to Active Household Only and "Fill Empty Houses" must be disabled. I highly recommend you to use Normal or Short Lifespan, but it's up to you.
Rules:
- Don't use mods, cheats or game mechanics to obtain advantages in this challenge. No money cheats, no cleaning, repairing or money-making clubs, etc. Note: you may use MC Command Center, but pay attention to your settings, so your Sims won't move out, get married or have kids without your supervision.
- Each household must be played for 7 in-game days. After that, you jump to the next one, the next one, the next one… Until you start over. You must only play with those households in this save.
- You must play the households always in the same order. Every time time a new household is created (let's say, kids moving out their parents home or something), it must be included in the last "position" to be played next round.
- You must not merge Sims into your households. If you want to move in a Sim, do it in-game by marriage or "Ask To Move In". (Optional: Since only the households you play will be aging in this save, if you move in a townie or NPC you may use cheats to adjust their age.)
- You must ALWAYS randomize your Sims' traits, but you may choose their aspirations. Don't change your Sims' aspirations unless completed OR impossible (Example: the "City Native" aspiration, if you don't live in San Myshuno).
- Any Sim born/adopted or that became active (by marriage or "Ask To Move In") during the challenge must be played until they die or you finish the challenge.
- All played Sims must ALWAYS live in the world you choose initially. if you want to move someone out and there isn't any inhabited lot available… Well, that's sad, but no moving for them. Again, it's highly recommended you choose a medium-to-large world for this challenge.
- You may visit other worlds if you want, but each Sim will have to pay a $50 fee for transportation. I mean... You can't go from the desert to snowy mountains just walking, right? Oh, and don't forget to pay again to go back home! (Optional: to make it more realistic, I don't charge Toddlers and Child/Teens only pay $25).
Expanding your World:
- Keep track of the money your households pays in bills. All this money collected in taxes and services will be your City Funds.
- Use the City Funds to build community lots. You don’t have to build it from scratch or all at once. However, your Sims may only visit them once they are completed (that means, once every in-game requirements are met). You may download lots from the gallery, as long as you can afford it with the City Funds.
- The City Funds may also be used to renovate community lots you already placed in town.
- Rich households may buy community lots to build retail stores, restaurants or veterinary clinics. Those lots must be built with the household funds, not the City Funds.
- For each new community lot completed, you earn a new Sim to your world! You may move him/she with an existing household, create a new household or save up to create larger households. Those Sims must be created the same way as set in the initial rules.
Finishing the challenge: to end this challenge successfully, all lots in the world must be occupied. At least one of them must be a community lot completed and fully functional.
Want to keep going? Have $500.000 in the City Funds and "unlock" a new town to continue the challenge! Choose a new world, bulldoze all lots and move some of your Sims there.
Updates:
12/29/20:
- No more university restrictions.
- No more initial funds requirements. Simply use the initial funds the game provides you.
- Remodel on taxation system to make it more simple.
- Less restrictions to travel between worlds.
- Less requirements for finishing the challenge. I like it more open-endend.
