"Can you come in today? We're short-staffed!"

You know what I'd like to see as like a free little update? A small random chance for your sims' job to be calling asking if they can work a few extra hours or come in to do a shift on their day off. Especially if your sim has a part-time job.

No decrease to their job performance if your sim refuses, (after all, work can't make you come in on your day off) but a nice sizable boost to their job performance if they did as well as a moodlet to go with it. The moodlets would also be trait dependent as well. For example, an Ambitious sim will feel happy or confident for coming in to help out, but feel tense or sad if they didnt work. While a Lazy sim would be downright ecstatic that they didnt work on their precious day off, but feel tense or even angry if they forced themselves to go in.

Thoughts?
  • I wouldn't mind this. It would be a neat little thing. Part time jobs have to be careful with teens and school, though. The last thing I want is for them to bug out and be sent home to answer that phone call.
  • Honestly, this would be neat!!! Though I do agree with @Calico45 and think we should err on the side of caution...What if it only worked for those with full-time jobs??? or just sims not currently enrolled in school??

I definitely do get that we wouldnt want teens to have to skip out on school just to come in for work. (though admittedly this is giving me some story ideas...) Perhaps if it was programmed in a way that teens never receive calls to come in during school days? Or maybe since some part time jobs can be worked at night, they only get calls to work night shifts so that they dont miss school? Though they might be missing out on time to do homework... I wouldnt mind if the random calls for shift pick up only affected full time jobs. I just like the idea of sims getting a random call to work on their day off just because their low cooking skill coworker set their stove on fire trying to make toast (though they're probably lying about it) and cant come in because of it.
  • When your Sims have the workaholic lifestyle, you can also send them in to work on off hours yourself by clicking on the Sim and then on that option in the menu. You can even send them into work from vacation and rental lots.

My retail shop owners are always having their staff moaning about doing overtime already so I suppose that could be added to your own Sim's job. You can do overtime in GTW when you follow your Sims to work.
