CASTING CALL - ASYLUM CHALLENGE

Kahi is just a sim I had lying around. I won't be offended if you don't think he's exciting enough to cast. Per the rules of the challenge he's playing, he had to have the Kleptomaniac trait and two randomized traits. The randomizer gifted him with Erratic and Paranoid.

It all started with his father, who was jealous and controlling. When Kahi was a toddler, his mother couldn't take it anymore, so she ran off to Sulani. Kahi's father never told him about his mother's true whereabouts. In stead, Kahi grew up believing his father's story about an alien conspiracy that culminated in his mother's abduction. This left Kahi with deep-seated paranoia. 

As a teenager, he started hallucinating. He sought comfort in regressing by knitting toys and listening to Kid's music. His best friend Nanami is childish and loves the toys he knits for her. He's in love with her but he's worried that he's just too broken to be the partner she deserves. He's also started to obsess about finding his mother (in space, not Sulani). He's taken to swiping things that he thinks might be "clues" to the alien conspiracy. It was during one such attempt that he was accosted by Officer Talia of the Willow Creek PD. Talia happened to have Crisis Intervention Training (CIT). After a brief conversation, she was convinced that Kahi needed to be taken to a CIT assessment center. There, he was given a conditional diagnosis of Unspecified Psychosis and recommended for inpatient psychiatric care and additional assessment. At Newcrest Hospital, he was diagnosed with schizoaffective disorder -bipolar type, and scopophobia. It is believed he will need lengthy treatment in order to stabilize. If you choose to play with him, I hope you take good care of him.

Patient 107 - Female - Teen

Patient was found wandering aimlessly in the forest and was severely dehydrated and dazed. She was covered in scratches, and her clothes were torn and dirty. Patient did not appear to know where she was and was mumbling incoherently about some Evil Queen trying to kill her. Patient was sedated and brought to the Newcrest Hospital for observation. After undergoing tests and a thorough examination, it was determined that the patient was suffering from post-traumatic stress disorder. Since no next of kin could be located, the doctors felt it was wise for the patient to be admitted to an asylum, especially after the patient told them that her name was Snow White.

Patient 90210 *- Female - Young Adult

Police received a 911 call from Mei Prescott, Principal of Copperdale High School, about a confused young woman wandering the halls of the school in a prom dress. Upon arrival, police found the young woman in the cafeteria.  When police tried to lead the sim away, she became somewhat hysterical and said she had to stay there as she was waiting for the "star quarterback" to present his promposal to her.  The patient then rambled on about how she knew that the "star quarterback" was going to ask her because he was her "secret admirer". After conferring together, the police told the young woman that the "star quarterback" had asked them to bring her to another location where the "star quarterback" was waiting for her. With that, the patient smiled and willingly left with the police who then brought her to Newcrest Hospital for observation. After running several tests, the doctors diagnosed the patient with a paranoid delusional disorder. It appeared that the patient was reliving a traumatic event from her past, but thought that it was happening in the present time. She told them her name was Emilia Hurley, and finding no next of kin, the doctors admitted her to the local asylum. On the ride over, Emilia asked if they were driving her to the prom.

ASYLUM CHALLENGE - CHAPTER 1 - DR. HUMBERT HUNTSMAN

Dr. Humbert Huntsman looked at the file on his desk. The patient's name was Snow White. He knew the name well and had spent many sleepless nights wondering what to do. You see, Dr. Huntsman knew that Snow White's tale of an Evil Queen trying to kill her was true. But the thing was, it was Dr. Huntsman himself who was supposed to have done the deed. He shook his head and ran his hand through his hair thinking back to how it had all happened.

He had been employed by the Evil Queen, or rather blackmailed by her, and had been instructed to take Snow White into the forest to kill her. You see, Dr. Huntsman had used some questionable methods for some anti-aging experiments he had conducted, and somehow the Evil Queen had found out.  She had uncovered some files that would threaten his standing in the community, jeopardize his credibility, revoke his doctor's license, and worse, put him in jail. And so, he had entered a bargain with the Evil Queen. She would continue to fund his anti-aging experiments and never mention his secret to anyone, but in exchange, she had asked for one favor...to kill a sim named Snow White.

He wasn't quite sure what her motive was, but the Evil Queen seemed to ramble on about Snow White being "the fairest in the land", and she couldn't have that happen. He didn't quite understand, but he had agreed. Yes, he had shamefully agreed to save his own reputation. The Evil Queen knew that Dr. Huntsman had access to lethal injections, and she told him that he should take Snow White into the forest and do the deed there, where no one would see. 

When the day came to carry out the plan, the Evil Queen had told Snow White that she had made an appointment for her with Dr. Huntsman for one of his "therapeutic talks" to help Snow White through some of the teen angst she was experiencing. From the description that the Evil Queen had given him, Dr. Huntsman pictured Snow White as a horrible, mean, and irresponsible sim. But when he met her, he found her to be innocent, kind, gentle, sweet, and cheerful. She had told him that her parents had died tragically and that she was under the care of the Queen. She told him that she felt like a servant in her own house and that no matter what she did, she could never seem to please the Queen. 

Dr. Huntsman realized then that the Evil Queen had been jealous of Snow White, and the Evil Queen's vanity and evilness were the real reasons she wanted Snow White dead. As they walked further into the forest, Dr. Huntsman knew he couldn't kill Snow White. He told her that the Queen wanted her dead out of jealousy, and begged her forgiveness. He told her that she should flee into a deeper part of the forest and find shelter.

But in a twist of fate, she had ended up in his hospital under his care. He had found out too late to help her, and her case had already gone before the courts. The judge deemed Snow White "erratic" and ordered her to be sent to an asylum.

Dr. Huntsman sighed. He opened the file and wrote some notes.

"Patient is suffering from Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder which has caused her to become "erratic". She will not  harm others and has a generous, trusting, and helpful nature. Given the recent budget cuts at the facility, my findings conclude that her therapy will consist of being in charge of the 7 other residents in the asylum. To cook and clean and care for them. In addition, if she completes 4 tasks (aspirations)  to prove her sanity, it is my unwavering opinion that she can re-enter the Simworld again and lead a productive life."

He closed the file and gathered up 7 other files. He then called an orderly to bring the patient Snow White for transportation to the asylum. Dr. Huntsman thought for a moment about a fairy tale he had heard in his youth, "Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs", mumbled Dr. Huntsman, "...how ironic..."

Dr. Humbert Huntsman is actually a Maxis-made sim named Scrubs De Reve.

ASYLUM CHALLENGE - CHAPTER 3 -  THE CASE FILES - PART 2

Snow White looked at the other files and decided to explore the upstairs. There were two sleeping areas, and she took a seat on one of the beds and started reading again.

(Snow is in one of the upstairs bedrooms. There are a total of 2 beds in each room.)

Patient 6699 - Male - Young Adult - Donte Haskins

Summary: Admitted to asylum by Father. A twin who thinks he has an imaginary friend named Geppetto. Sometimes thought Geppetto was his twin, and other times thought that Geppetto was himself. Now claims that Geppetto is trying to take over his body as there can only be one of them.

(Geppetto will be seen wearing a hat with all his outfits,)

Snow's thoughts:  Snow had never had an imaginary friend before. She was fortunate to have made friends with the many woodland creatures that visited her home. But as far as real friends, she didn't have any. Snow could understand how Donte felt. Maybe he didn't have any woodland animals to talk to. Perhaps all he needed was a real friend, and Snow knew she could be that friend for him. Snow wondered if she would meet Geppetto, and if he was very different from Donte.

Snow paused for a moment in her reading. It was such a beautiful day today that she decided to sit outside and read the rest of the files.

Patient 79 - Male - Young Adult - Kahi Letterman

Summary: Admitted to asylum by Father. Conspiracy theorist who thinks his mother was abducted by aliens when he was a toddler and steals "clues" to find her whereabouts.

Snow's thoughts: What a horrible thing to have happened to Kahi's mother, and Snow could understand how Kahi was feeling. After her parents' tragic passing, Snow would often hold on to objects that belonged to her parents to feel closer to them. In fact, the necklace she wore belonged to her mother. Snow didn't understand why Kahi was sent to this place. All he wanted to do was find his mother because he missed her and after reading his file, Snow White knew that she would do everything she could to help him find her.

Patient 8675309 - Male - Young Adult -Don Lothario

Summary: The Don Juan of sims. Says he knows the secret of what women want. Was engaged once. Will not discuss what transpired in this relationship but says he will never marry.

Snow's thoughts: Snow didn't know who Don Juan was or why Don was compared to him. But Don seemed like a rather knowledgeable sim knowing what women wanted. Snow wasn't sure how he knew, when she herself didn't know what she wanted. But then again, she was only a teen. Maybe it was different when you were a woman and then Don would know what she wanted. Maybe if she asked him, he would tell her. It was sad, though that he didn't want to get married. Snow had always dreamed that "someday her Prince would come", although Snow didn't quite know what to do when her Prince did show up. Maybe Don would know. She certainly wanted to ask him if he knew what men wanted.

Patient 01010010 - Male - Teen - Rusty Bolts

Summary: Lack of parental supervision as a child. Thinks he is a robot. Is adamant that "magic" changed him into something else. Possible pyromaniac.

Snow's thoughts: Snow was excited to read about Rusty because he was also a teen. And his life was similar to hers, except he was always trying to please his father, and Snow had always tried to please the Queen. Snow didn't know what it meant that Rusty became "something else, and Snow was a bit nervous when she read that Rusty might be a pyromaniac. She hoped that he wouldn't start any fires as she didn't see any smoke alarms anywhere. Snow felt that Rusty was rather mysterious and it both excited and frightened her at the same time.

After reading the files, she placed them on the desk in an office off the entrance. These sims didn't sound so bad and maybe all they needed was someone to talk to. She could do that. They were all older than she was, except Rusty, who was the only other teen. She didn't know exactly when they would be arriving, but she had better get to work, as the house was in a state of disarray.

As she wandered outside, she saw the guards standing under a tree. She went over to speak with them.

Snow to the guards: "Sul Sul! I am Snow White and I just moved here. Dr. Huntsman said I was to cook, and clean, and care for the other residents. Could you tell me where I might find some cleaning supplies?"

Snow White waited for an answer and then asked again. They didn't seem very talkative. She figured she would have to find things on her own. And with that, she turned and skipped into the house. She had just found a broom and was sweeping the kitchen floor when she heard the front door open and suddenly she heard voices.

Snow White: "Oh, they're here!" she exclaimed and went to greet them.

ASYLUM CHALLENGE - THE HOUSE

This is a house I built a few years ago, and just renovated it a bit for this challenge.

Back of build with maze, garden area, and pool. A basketball court is on the right-hand side and a ping-pong table on the left. The pool and basketball court count as 2 skill items.

A graveyard on the left front of the property. The build is eco-friendly with a solar panel, wind turbine and water collector on the property.

The entrance to the facility is very small. Archway to the right is to the living room. Archway to the left is the kitchen. There is also a door to an office on the left.

To the right is the living room area. A fireplace, bookshelves, a small tv, a Don't Wake the Llama game and a violin provide some entertainment for the residents. There are also 2 mirrors on the opposite wall, and a fishbowl on a table near the archway. Seating on a loveseat and a rocker provide 3 seating spots. The violin is one of the skill items.

Going through the archway from the living room is a room devoted to gardening and painting. The bonsai plant is another skill item (gardening).

At the other side of the room is the painting area, and the easel is another skill item. This is the last skill item allowed. The archway leads to the art therapy room, and there is a door on the right that leads outside.

The Art Therapy room also holds the laundry area for the facility.

The kitchen holds off-the-grid fridge, stove and sink. There is a stool at the island, which is the last permissible seat. As per the rules, there is no fire alarm.

The bathroom is really small with just a toilet and tub/shower combo.

There is an office on the main level with a computer and chair; however, the office has been locked. Either a tv or a computer can be used, so for now, the tv is accessible.

Upstairs are the two bedrooms of 2 beds each for a total of 4 beds. The chair at the desk area is not accessible as grass has been placed under it. A dresser and bookshelf flank the wall and there is another mirror on the opposite wall.

Donte Haskins - Male - Young Adult

Patient claims an imaginary friend from the “world of pure imagination” is taking over his life by pretending to be him. According to the patient, when he was 6, he summoned his imaginary friend, Geppetto, who possessed a doll. He promised to make Geppetto a real boy. Upon performing the necessary ritual, instead of becoming a real Sim, Geppetto took over the body of the patient’s brother. According to the patient, Geppetto has declared "there can only be one."

Our interview with the patient's family uncovered a history of what they described as an “overactive imagination.” The patient has a twin brother whom he began claiming was actually his imaginary friend who came to life when they were 14. Patient has been in several freak accidents which he claims his twin orchestrated to get rid of him. However, there isn’t any solid evidence.  Conversely, the brother also claims that the patient has attacked him to "get him first." Patient now isn’t sure if his twin is the imaginary one or if he is. He appears to be suffering from delusional psychosis. Patient’s father signed off on his being admitted to Newcrest Hospital.

I have a few other simmers from Facebook who have submitted sims, but I will probably be short sims, so decided that one of the pre-made Maxis sims should be used.

Patient 8675309  - Male - Young Adult

Don Lothario

Agnes Crumplebottom, a concerned sim, had filed a police report after witnessing a sim making lacivious advances towards several female sims at a nearby park. Obviously concerned for the young women's safety, Agnes had followed the sim and discovered that the sim was living in an old abandoned granary. When the police arrived, the sim seemed somewhat confused but told them his name was Don Lothario. Having no ID on him, and being unable to tell the authorities how he got there, they brought Don to Newcrest Hospital. Once there, Don explained that he had woken up one morning in a whole new world. All he remembered was being at a party with several women who had been laughing as he stepped onto a teleporter. At the mention of the teleporter, the doctors raised their eyebrows. After further questioning, Don could not tell them anything about his past, whether he had a job or not, or where he was from originally. However, the patient did recall his many relationships with women, and in fact boasted that in the past he had held down relationships with four women at once. The patient also boasted that even a married woman, by the name of Bella, had come to his abode one night. The patient described himself as a man about town, and said that the ladies just couldn't keep their hands off of him. He confessed that he loved all women, and, as if to confirm this, Don openly flirted with a nurse when she entered the examination room. After conferring for several minutes, the doctors ascertained that the patient was suffering from a cognitive impairment with a further diagnosis of a Casanova Complex. It was recommended that Don be admitted to an asylum for further observation.

Patient 1999 - Female - Young Adult

Shanda Lear

Shanda loves food! She also loves being the life of the party. When her erratic behavior got her banned from all the A-List parties she took to crashing parties of the rich and famous, She crashed the Bailey-Moon dinner party in Del Sol Valley. She spent all night at the bar and was totally juiced. When the guests were called to dinner, they found Shanda hanging from the ceiling over the table. She fell into a tureen of pumpkin soup. After being transported to the Newcrest Hospital, Shanda was diagnosed with histrionic personality disorder (HPD), as she wanted to be the center of attention all the time. And, that's how she found her way to the asylum. 

I changed Shanda's traits to erratic, glutton and party animal and gave her the Chief of Mischief Aspiration. I also changed a few of her outfits.

Patient 01010010 - Male - Teen

Rusty Bolts

Rusty's father was a professor of robotics at Foxbury University. His dream was to create the perfect female Servo, who would give him the perfect robot family. Every night and day, Rusty's father worked in his robotics lab. And finally, he did it. He created the perfect Servo. Her name was Gerta Gardenbot, a Servo he had created to help with gardening.  And as the garden flourished, so did their love, and Gerta bore him a son named Rusty. Rusty's father had hoped that his robot love, Gerta, would give birth to a robot child, but alas, it was a human sim. Not happy with the outcome of Rusty's birth, his father shunned Rusty and spent every waking moment in his lab trying to find the solution to create a robot child. Gerta tried her best to attend to Rusty's needs, but she was programmed to garden, which left Rusty to tend to himself. All of this had an effect on Rusty, and he tried to be the perfect son for his father. Rusty studied programming, robotics, and immersed himself in video games and movies about robots. He changed the way he looked, and used make-up on his skin to turn it a silver color, dyed his hair, and wore a robot costume to school. He was the smartest child in his class, but he had no friends as the other children thought he was rather strange. He did everything he could to please his father and gain his love, but each time, he fell short. And so, Rusty decided that the only way his father would truly love him was if Rusty became a robot himself. Rusty had heard of a place called Glimmerbrook where it was rumored that sims who practiced magic lived there. Rusty headed to the Realm and met a Spellcaster who he told he wanted to be something else. The Spellcaster assured Rusty that Rusty would be, thinking that Rusty had meant he wanted to be a Spellcaster. Rusty then underwent a transformation. Rusty suddenly felt different and was sure the magic had worked on him. Excited about the possibility of being a real robot, Rusty returned home. His excitement soon turned to anger, though, as when he removed his robot costume he discovered that he was still a human sim. Something snapped in him suddenly, and all he remembered were the flames that appeared around him when he had muttered some words for an "inferniate" spell that he had learned from the Spellcaster. When the firefighters arrived at the blaze and carried Rusty out, his only words to them were, "I am Robot", which is why he is now residing at the asylum.

The number 01010010 is binary code and represents the capital letter R.
In the Sims 4, Servos cannot produce children, but for purposes of this backstory, they can.
Rusty Bolts was genetically created in CAS as the son of LisaBeesims's Gerta Gardenbot. He went to Glimmerbrook and accidentally became a Spellcaster, thinking that he was being turned into a robot.
