The Rundown Diner WIP
Jordan Knight's first restaurant was located in an old factory building that he remodelled. I wanted to create a place that was different from all the other businesses in Windenburg cause, well, I think the town just looks a bit too clean! :D Every town must have a bit of a rundown area where things look a bit worn and well, dirtier, with an added industrial touch of how it looked decades before. I'm not sure that once the diner/nightclub is finished I will keep it in Windenburg because it does look totally out of place, lol, but we'll see. :)
I've also been focusing first on getting the architecture of the building finished, and use cheap furniture to get the restaurant started. so consider the seating and tables on the outside dining space as place holders for later replacements. ;) I do like the furniture for the indoor restaurant, that seems to fit pretty well for this kind of place. Anyway, this is what Jordan's been able to afford so far: :)
The front of the building:
The back:
I'm not sure yet about the bricks I used, although it does look better at night time (and not set against the cottage look of the surrounding Windenburg neighbourhood :D ). Here's Jordan late at night, cleaning up the place:
More cleaning to be done on the inside (plus, a look at the interior):
A view from the kitchen into the restaurant:
The latest addition, before money ran out again, the night club part:
The layout of the place:
I also want Jordan to be able to live at the restaurant, so he doesn't lose any time travelling home when the restaurant is closed, so I'm building an apartment for him on the first floor. So far, it's only the basics (bed, toilet, shower) and an easel to make more paintings (with his painting skill at ten in game, those paintings are worth a bunch more than the first restaurant incomes! :) ). This is the layout of the first floor:
The ground floor layout will probably stay the same, although the one for the bathroom might still change (thinking of making a separate one for men and women). The layout of the first floor will probably change completely. I'm thinking of placing the bedroom in the empty room where the easel is standing now and use the big space for an open plan dining room/kitchen/living room. Also, the first floor needs more windows, but again, money's tight for Jordan! ;)
I must say I'm really enjoying this rags to riches challenge and gradually upgrading Jordan's restaurant along the way. Again, I might place the finished restaurant in another neighbourhood in the end, cause it's just looking too industrial/dive bar-ish for Windenburg, but I first want to work on the interiors now and enjoy the gameplay of the Dine Out GP. I must say I'm enjoying restaurants a lot more than private businesses from the Get To Work EP where staff was simply useless. They really did a way better job here!
Will post later when I have more!
