Decade Challenge: Modified Rules to Make War More Devastating
Hey guys! I've been using my own rules for war to make it feel like it impacts the world more, and also to increase the chance of death. I thought I'd post my rules here in case anyone else likes their gameplay to be a bit more *dramatic*. It does require a lot of micro-managey tasks, but I've found it adds so much more to the story of this challenge!
Also couple quick notes: This is modified for cutecoffeegal's version of the challenge, specifically where every 20 sim days=10 years. BUT I think it'd be very easy to adjust the timing to fit the 1 generation for 1 decade version as well! This method also requires mods that allow you to insta-kill sims as I don't know of a cheat to do it in game. I use MC Command Center, but any mod with a similar function will work.
How it works
How it works: Your Household: I am not a fan of the cowplant, so I also have my own way of doing things for my own household. You could easily just add them to the war list, but this will simulate them not being in the household during the war.
Like I said, it is pretty micro-managey but it has created some dramatic stories in my game. Hope you folks enjoy this, feel free to drop a comment with your thoughts!!

How it works
- When the war starts, make a list of all eligible sims (not in your household) who would go to war, with 20 being the max amount on the sheet
- Every day at a set time, role a 20 sided dice. You can use something like google dice if you don't have one yourself. Whichever sim has the matching number on your list dies in the war that day. Use a mod to insta-kill them.
- If you have more sims who are eligible to enter the war that aren't on the list, replace the dead sim's name name with someone new.
- Do this for as long as the war lasts. I round WW1 and WW2 to being half the decade for simplicity sake. So that would be 10 sim days, or halfway to your heir becoming a Young Adult, depending on which version of the challenge you are doing. I don't recommend doing it for the whole decade or you will run the risk of running out of Male sims. I made this mistake during WW1 and am still feeling the consequences in the 50s (hurray for the baby boom! hoping that fixes things)
How it works: Your Household: I am not a fan of the cowplant, so I also have my own way of doing things for my own household. You could easily just add them to the war list, but this will simulate them not being in the household during the war.
- Create a basement for your soldier sims, with the entrance being a lock-able shed in the back garden. You can cheat your funds to make this but you must cheat them back to what they were before when you're done.
- Objects for basic needs are allowed but the basement must also have: A murphy bed (no other bed type is allowed), a pool, and a fireplace with a rug right next to it
- You can also add a washer and dryer for more chances of fire happening, or any other death-causing objects you have in your game.
- When the war starts your sims must go in the basement and the entry door must be locked for everyone
- You are not allowed to control what your sims do in the basement, this is to try and make death more random
- If you have StrangerVille, you are allowed to let them out for work but they must immediately re-enter the basement when they get home
- Furlough was a thing during war. To simulate this you can let your sim visit home once during a war's duration.
Like I said, it is pretty micro-managey but it has created some dramatic stories in my game. Hope you folks enjoy this, feel free to drop a comment with your thoughts!!
