Fear as an Emotion?

Hello again! So I have finally brought myself to purchase The Sims 4! Seeing through out these last several months, The Sims 4 had made a few improvements. Though a lot is still missing in my opinion...

This is simply an idea/suggestion and I am pretty sure that this has been brought up before, but just in case, here it is!
Why not reintroduce Fear into The Sims 4?
Knowing we have Ghosts, Spooky Items, Vampires, Skeletons, and a whole lot of other "Oh mys" that will inevitably be implemented into the series, why not install Fear as an emotion as well as add a new unique emotion based death as well! Scared to Death!

It might be similar in how Sims have died by Fear in The Sims 2. Either way, I believe that it might be a nice addition.

I even thought about the three different emotional stages of Fear!

1.) Spooked.
The first stage of Fear. This Sim has chills running down his/her spine. A bit skittish if I may say. Perhaps your sim needs to stop watching those late night horror flicks.

2.) Scared.
The second stage of Fear. What was that?! A Ghost? A Monster?! A Zombie Bear?! Your sim isn't feeling so comfortable nor safe. Better find a way to shake off this fear before it shakes you harder than it already has.

3.) Terrified.
The third stage of Fear. Your sim is far more than scared. Are your trousers feeling a bit soaked? How about your pulse? Your sim might not take much more of it!

We could even implement new traits as well! Like Brave and Coward from The Sims 3!

So what do you think? Do you have any suggestions? Has this been brought up before?
Thank you for reading this post.

  • This would be awesome! I've been wanting a fear emotion for a while. This could bring traits like Brave, Coward, Skeptic, Believer, etc. Brave sims get confident from not getting scared at a ghost scare, for example. Cowards naturally get more tense and nervous around supernaturals or any other spooky thing, like refusing to get from the candy bowl since they know there would be something that pops up. Maybe they can have an irrational fear of things, like those annoying gnomes. Maybe Skeptics would be harder to scare and try to be more realistic about things, believers would be more excited than scared to see supernaturals. This could hopefully make vampires more secretive (since I dislike that Sims automatically know that they're vampires) like how aliens have to be discovered.
  • Yes we definitely need fear emotion, since we have many more things in game to be afraid of, forex. Criminals aliens vampiress.
And of course we would need brave and coward trait with a new death type :naughty:
  • Yes! I feel like "tense" gets used for way too many REALLY different experiences--lack of fun, being spooked by a ghost, and writers block are NOT the same thing. I think low fun need should maybe result int being bored instead of tense, and then there should be more real consequences for boredom, like not being able to do work activities or clean (unless sim has neat trait), stuff like that. And the being spooked by a ghost and stuff like that should be the fear emotion, and the tense should reserved for things that are actually stressful, like working to hard at work, and all the trait interactions like being a loner when around people or loving outdoors and being inside too much or, like I mentioned, writers block. Right now all these experiences feel way to similar, and a lot of the whims aren't really appropriate for what the actual cause is. Fear whims could include similar things like giving yourself a pep talk, but also new whims like seeking out a trusted friend, grabbing a drink (for some liquid "courage" ie, confidence), or even adopting a dog ;-D
  • I'd really like to see 'fear', too. I understand that toddlers have a limited range of emotions, and that's realistic, but 'sad' doesn't make sense for things like nightmares and ghosts. Uncomfortable and tense don't make sense for adults afraid of thunderstorms.
  • I'm not really a Twitter follower so I'm not sure what's going on with emotions. Has there ever been any official discussion of why there is no fear in the game, even with the addition of Spooky Stuff and temple raiding?
