Today’s the day of the doctor’s appointment. Zach is up making Mila her favourite breakfast: French Toast

While Mila checks a few e-mails and gets some notes on the first few chapters of the textbook she’s writing

The couple sit down to eat and Mila gets a text from Summer, wishing her luck for today

Then they discuss the appointment and what to expect

And Zach tells Mila that whatever the doctor says, they will get through it together

Then it’s time to head to the appointment

They meet with Dr. Jenkins who sits them down to go over the results

He explains that the blood test shows that Mila has a low fertility rate, meaning that while she can get pregnant, it will be more difficult for them

He goes over their options, gives them some reading materials, and tells them to let him know what route they decide. Not wanting to keep them any longer from their discussions, he bids them goodbye

Zach and Mila head home with their newfound knowledge and reading materials. Once at home, they decide to do some research before discussing their options

From their research, they have three options if they want to have children: the first is to continue trying for a baby without medical intervention and see what happens. The second is adoption, avoiding any difficulties with pregnancy. The third option is medical; Mila would need to have medical injections to increase her hormones while they try for a baby, hoping that this increases their odds.
The couple discuss their options, which naturally becomes somewhat heated as they both make their points: Zach tells Mila he doesn’t care if a baby is adopted or not, and worries that the hormone injections could affect her health. Mila tells him that she wants to be pregnant at least once, and that she doesn’t care about the side effects.

After hours of discussion, looking deeply into every pro and con, the couple think they’ve made a decision

They decide to go out to dinner with their parents to discuss their decision with them

At the restaurant, they all sit down

And Mila tells her Father and Mother-in-law about their doctors appointment, the results, and their decision about the future…

They’ve decided to go ahead with hormone treatment in the hopes that it will increase their odds of being able to have a baby

Henry and Clarissa are excited to hear the news that they may be welcoming a grandchild one day, but also sorry that it has been a struggle for the pair

They also know that treatment may be expensive and that the couple have been working hard to save for a new house, so they ask them what they plan to do. Mila tells them that they can wait to move into a new home, even if they have a baby, as they wouldn’t need the extra bedroom until he or she was a toddler.

Henry and Clarissa share a look, as if talking psychically, before telling the couple that they would like to fund it so that they don’t have to delay their move

Zach and Mila are stunned and tell them they couldn’t accept such a kind offer. But the parents won’t take no for an answer, and soon they decide to accept. They emotionally thank their parents for their support.

And head home to bed. Tomorrow they will be back to the doctors office where they will begin the treatment
