Gallery Household Search Options
Hello! I've got a suggestion:
I think the Gallery could benefit from more in-depth search options for Households. Much like the Lot searching has ranges for price, size, and type, I'd love to be able to search for "Household with 4 young adults" or "Household with 2 adults, 1 teen, and 2 toddlers, etc." The options on the side could list the age groups and you could select a drop down menu with a number from 1-8, None, or Unspecified(<-which would be the default.) Maybe it could be an advanced option filter so it doesn't clutter the window?
Bonus points if I can also search by a family's funds.
Why I'd like this feature is because:
I'm a bit of a builder and when I like a house I made; I often don't want to leave it empty, so I search the gallery for a household to add to the residence. However, I don't do this until after I've built the house, so I'm frequently trying to fill a very specific bed type and size requirement. I'm like, "Ok, I've got a master bedroom, that's for the parents. Then, I've got another bedroom I've decorated as a teenage female's room. Then I've got a child's bedroom with science-y stuff and a room for a toddler with two matching beds." So, I need two parents who have a teenage girl, a child, and two toddlers. However, finding a family for the right fit for the house searching for "Size 4-6" gives way too many combinations that don't fit! It takes forever to find a family I both want in my game and is the right requirement for the house.
I feel really bad saying, "Congratulations! You lucky couple, you! You've won a beautiful new home, but two of you need a sex change and one of your children has got to go! Pick quickly. Snap, snap! I don't have all day!" I personally like to leave the families I take from the Gallery intact.
I mean, I could go make some sims of my own, but since I'm not as interested in crafting sims as I am crafting their homes they just never seem as well-thought out or as interesting as some of the families the rest of the sim community can make. I mean they've made some pretty cool stuff! :) I just can't seem to find the one I'm looking for half the time.
I think when you're searching for a house you are able to type in the specific theme you want in the search bar. Such as "gothic" or "spanish" and you are able to refine your search for a house in that manner. However, "Two adults, one teen girl, one child, two toddlers" doesn't even fit in the search bar. I've tried. :flushed: Sometimes typing "twins" might help when I have a room-sharing situation, but I think sims are starting to think there's something in the water in this town!
I'm not sure if my particular play-style is just too niche for the amount of work refining the search options would take or if the addition of the search options might benefit other simmers play-styles? Like those who maybe start a new file with a gallery family?
(P.S. Also if I'm totally blind and there's already a way to do this please tell me! ;) Thanks for reading that wall of text!)
