Hansel and Gretel, Part II

Later that year...

Gretel woke up with a nightmare. "Mama's going to be taken away from us!" she shouted. 

I wished I had believed her. Maybe I could have warned Papa.

That afternoon, Mama wandered into the forest. She never came back.

Papa remarried in the springtime. Her name was Hilda, and she was nothing like Mama.

I couldn't put my finger on it, but for some reason I just didn't like her.

The disappearance of their mother wasn’t good, and Hilda doesn’t sound like she is very nice 🙁

    Oh, she is not. Then again, the Brothers Grimm probably wouldn't have called her an evil stepmother if she were nice. 😅
