How Many Times Have You Restarted the Same Build?
Hi. I love to build houses, but I'm so not good at roofs. However, the game I'm playing requires the starship Enterprise. Yes, there are MANY in the Gallery. Trust me, I think I downloaded every one of them to check out in game. Most are really creative and I liked aspects of each, but, sadly, there was only quarters for six Sims, tops. After taking a good hard look at how many of these ships were created, I decided to try my hand at my own version. This was on Monday. Something didn't quite go right, so Tuesday, I saved it, carefully transcribed what I had to graph paper, then bulldozed the lot and started again. Each day it took hours! I only worked for about thirty minutes or so after I returned with my grandson from school. Yesterday, I started anew. Only this time, I had an epiphany. Instead of saving it near the end of the build, I decided to save it to My Library as a new save, after each level was complete. My thinking was, should I get restless and desire to start all over again, I could select that 'new' save closest to where things went wrong and go from there.
I have to laugh at myself. I have NEVER taken days to work on a single build. (Normally it only takes 3-4 hours.) I have to admit, it's filling a creative void in me. I just finished a redraft and edit job on my latest book and was at loose ends. Yesterday, I felt fairly happy with the build, but did run into a slight snag. The bridge (fourth floor) somehow got messed up. Now, I'm uncertain if I should go back in and use the save prior to adding the bridge and try again, or just shrug it off. I've also got a wild hair about creating a basement to accommodate some things there was little to no room for. I used Mr. Scott's Guide to the New Enterprise as my guide for the Officer's Quarters; the Junior Officer's Quarters; and the Crew Quarters, with a few variations of my own.
Being limited to only four levels makes this build extra hard. I applaud the creativity the others have shown. While I ponder what to do, please share how many times you've restarted the same build. Please, and thank you, in advance.
