I cannot recreate my RL house..

Even in real life my house kind of confuses me, so I don't really know if there's a way to make it in the sims.. Maybe y'all can help?

Let me explain. Its a pretty basic rectangle, with an attached double garage and two levels. The front yard is on the slightest hill, and to enter you go up about 3-4 steps onto a porch. Here's where it gets confusing. When you enter the front door, you have a very small landing and then either a full staircase up or a full staircase down. It's a "mother daughter" house I've been told is what you call the layout, as each upstairs and downstairs has a full kitchen and living plus bedrooms and a bathroom on each. Anyway. If you go downstairs, (I REPEAT, A FULL STAIRCASE!) you can go out a backdoor and be on ground level outside... but you only walked up 3-4 steps onto the porch and then down 9 steps.. WHAT.

The closest I came to this in the sims was making 2 stories with the downstairs (1st floor) mostly below ground level and then faking a porch with a balcony on the 2nd floor but it didnt look like a porch and the backyard looked like it was in a crater.
I could make it a basement but thats not accurate either as it has windows and all :(

Is my house just an impossible/magical structure? WHERE is the inbetween space from the two staircases?! I wish I had a floorplan because I cannot wrap my head around it but I believe my house is a semi-common design for American houses on the east coast so maybe someone will understand, lol.

  • I am not skilled enough to do it, but I've seen houses that use terrain to do something similar. It would be a matter of raising and lowering the terrain of the house to essentially create a hill in the front and a decline in the back to allow for the stairs.
  • There is a certain level you can achieve with terrain tools, but because we can't make rooms properly embedded into terrain (walls next to a terrain will always have a gap between them and the terrain), it won't work fully.

If you look at this video (and maybe look up some others like that), it could help?
