I'm looking for helpful feedback and suggestions
Hi everyone, I've a dilemma and like the title implies I could really use some group feedback. Who better to get it from than other people who love playing the Sims and reading SimLit? So I'll start by summarizing the core of my dilemma into a single sentence.
There is a demon haunting one of my legacy challenge families and her name is Alexia.
I know that sounds a little extreme but hear me out. First, for context, you guys should know that I usually keep a rigor mortis like grip on my Sims actions, which is probably how I got bored in the first place. Second this is gonna be a little on the long side so please bare with me. I guess some of the things I'm going to talk about might be little NSFW, so just in case there was your warning.
So I've been messing around with the Sims for years now and I was looking for a way to spice up how I play. Since I'd never done a Legacy challenge before and I'd finally stopped avoiding the Sims 4 I decided to give it a try. On my Xbox I created the Joy family and I was playing by the rules... But then I got bored. So I loaded up the game on my laptop, the version drowned in CC, the version who life depends on having MC Command Center running. It was in this version I created Alexia Cindergleam. She was going to be my easy legacy; I was going to follow as many of the rules as I could while cheating my but off. So when I placed the horned beauty in her tiny house on her giant plot of land, I knew shenanigans would eventually start piling up.
I got off to a smooth start and after spending a week getting used to her new home, starting her first book and getting her garden in order, I let her relax at a local Nightclub. I decided to really give her some time off by not telling her what to do while she was there, you know give her a chance to interact with Sims I usually don't befriend. I left her to her own devices for 10-15 minutes. I only looked up from my book because I heard the Woo-Hoo music. After the fanfare was over Alexia exited a closet I hadn't even known was there with Candy Behr following closely behind her. Okay that's fine, I mean I think it's cute and who am I to tell her who she can and can't hook up with after turning her loose. But as Sims are wont to do, Alexia had neglected some of her needs, specifically her bladder, hunger and sleep. So I sent her to the bathroom. That's when I see it, the option to take a pregnancy test. OK deep breath, there was no musical cue so she's fine. I queued up the test before I let her use the bathroom. You guys remember that cute little jingle that used to play after woo-hoo to let you know your Sims had conceived? Yes, well it's gone now. And the test came back positive. We left the club in a hurry.
So now Alexia was sitting at home, contemplating her near penniless, self-employed, newly pregnant, tiny two bedroom hovel having existence. Candy came by often during the next 3 or so days and the two built a strong, loving relationship quite quickly. In the end, despite her poverty, Maribelle was born happy and healthy. This all sounds really sweet right? Well Alexia is a **** and a ***** and some other * words. Two in game weeks later, she has a happy little toddler and a couple decent books under her belt. She'd made a few new (platonic) friends thanks to the festival system and goes out to eat with them often. I had some house stuff I needed to do IRL so I saved and left my game running. Yes, you heard correctly, I left the game unpaused as if I was subconsciously begging more drama to unfold. My secret wish was granted, ofcourse. When I returned there was a notification that Miko Ojo had had a baby girl named Lydia. I'd never gotten a notice about my NPCs before so I checked my noticeboard. I found three other messages of similar content. Suspicious and not just a little frightened, I checked Alexia's family tree...
• Miko Ojo had a daughter named Lydia
• Lily Feng had a daughter named Ashlynn
• Clara Bjergsen had a daughter named Eden
• Candy Behr had TRIPLETS! Madeleine, Shana and Maya
Can you guys guess who the "daddy" is?
Two married women, a girl already in love with someone else... and Candy. I'll admit I was alright with Candy being pregnant, but I was particularly worried about the marriages of both Clara and Lily, but I figured they could just tell their husbands the children were theirs. But no, this was the one time the game wanted to ace genetics. See all of these women are very light and pale of skin, like a bottle of Starbucks vanilla iced coffee or an extra light and sweet from the bodega. Whereas Alexia's skin tone is far more reminiscent of finely ground, roasted coffee beans! And for the first time while playing the Sims 4, all of the kids came out in the same shade range as their darker parent.
I can't! I just can't even!!! Stupid lust demon!!!! No, no. I am calm and I will continue.
Fine Alexia, fine! Now that you stuffed yourself into every willing crevice you could find, can we move on? So I went to the house of each mom to greet the children and make Alexia be a decent person/parent. Victor wasn't upset at all and he seems to still be on very good terms with Alexia, atleast he acted like they were still friends. But he does let Lily handle all the baby stuff, so there's that. Akira and Darling absolutely adore Lydia, so no real problems there either. The game's AI is a jerk so all of the children had spawned in Yuki's room, but she was pretty awesome about it. Then there's Bjorn.... Bjorn auto aggros the second Alexia walked into the house and he won't go anywhere near Eden. Whoops!
I edited each house to accommodate the children. Just small changes, like toys and beds. I let 3 days go by and then I went to age up the babies, you know celebrate their birthdays in person. I left Candy for last since there were three of them. Miko's first, than Lily and Clara. Now as infants they may have been kinda milky coco Frappuccino colored, as toddlers they were so much darker.... so much, like little copies of Alexia much darker. I think they can still hear the sigh from deep within my soul in the far reaches of Sixam.
Since I'd become attached to the idea of Candy and Alexia as a real couple, I stopped off at the house so that I could spend a lot of the money Alexia didn't have renovating so that there was space for Candy, her sister Yuki and the triplets to move in. I had cute plans about how they could be a family running through my head. Before we continue, I promise all of the necessary flirting, hand-holding and dating had been handled beforehand. All systems were go. Except...
Except when I got around to Candy and her girls' home later that night. Candy wasn't home. Like moved out and left Yuki there alone, not home. I freaked out for a second and, hoping that she hadn't disappeared from the game, began looking for her. I didn't have to look far. She had taken the children and moved in with the Partihaus crew next door. So I went there to check things out. It seems that while Alexia was handling her new parental duties, Candy was falling in love with Marcus Flex. so by the time I got to the house she was Candy Flex. Every conversion Alexia tried having with her was either awkward or tense and she was suddenly being really mean to Maribelle. My little heart was broken and I suppose Alexia's heart may have been broken as well, but that wasn't the real issue here. No the issue was that even though all of the infants were well within reach of the all the adults in the house, no one was interacting with them. I received the Child Services warning for all three children. With my head hung low I left and did the only thing I could do. I went to the manage households tab and moved Yuki and the triplets in with me. I aged up the infants once I reloaded the Alexia's family. Funnily enough, along with their older sister Maribelle, the triplets are the only light skinned children Alexia had.
It's been a few weeks, both IRL and in game. life is a little tight, but for the most part things are going nicely. Alexia's shaping up to be an amazing parent and her friendships aren't suffering for it like I thought they would. (Except her friendship with Bjorn, that bridge is little more than ashes in the wind.) Well there is one thing. It's pretty small actually, just a trifle really.
I have to watch Yuki's action queue like a hawk. See she keeps trying to slide into Alexia's bed and it's not because she having nightmares.
So that my fellow Simmers is what's been going on in my travesty of a Legacy Challenge. Interestingly all of this has inspired me to write and maybe share a story about Alexia's family. And that is where my dilemma comes from' I don't know if I should try and continue the story as a legacy fiction or turn it into a story about the life of a lust demon released upon the world by Lily Feng because she mistook her for a demon of pride that could help her take over San Myshuno in exchange for her soul. What do you guys think?
