Locking the Refrigerator

Thank you for pointing out that trick, that's exactly what I do, add candles! However, I don't put it in the refrigerator because it can still spoil in there whereas in the household inventory, it'll last forever.

If you're going to use it within a couple weeks or so, the fridge works fine to temporarily store a cake topped with candles so it doesn't get eaten. Although I have read threads where somehow Sims are still able to eat cakes with candles on them in the fridge. *shrugs*

For me though, birthday cakes are rarely ever eaten after the candles are blown out. I have the newly aged Sim add more candles and it goes back in the household inventory to sit until the next Sim's birthday, which can be several seasons away.

I'd like to lock my real life fridge bc a certain household member keeps eating all my food. LOL.

I wasn't aware that visiting Sims would raid the fridge too. I only had a Sim over once & he got on the computer while my sim was performing songs so I kicked him out of the house and locked the computer. I would absolutely want to do the same thing with the fridge. If my somewhat antisocial sim has any guests over, I don't want them raiding the fridge.

So, I "second" this suggestion.

I also think that this is a good idea. When I host a dinner party I want Sims to eat what I leave out for them, not the leftovers in the fridge. It's not a communal fridge!

hmmm I usually have open concept kitchens...I think I am going to try this for a bit until they hopefully address this.

It does make handling food a bit easier when you have the space to do it.

i have to double check but I thought sims were only thrown out if they started making a meal.

I’d appreciate this because I’m tired of the people involved in the “extra food” event eating all of my salad.

I would find this useful. Not just for guests either, then I wouldn't have to just lock a sim to a basement... >:)

It is annoying though when my sims do go through the trouble to cook a nice meal and a guest just grabs leftovers out of the fridge, a lock could solve this. Just remember to unlock it after, or don't. ;)

Ugh, tell me about it. I always forget not to cook something when starting because they will just devour everything in there, I had a sim with a great cooking skill cook something amazing (and expensive) and then that exact situation happened to me. The plumming food mafia strikes again

All hail Sulani! They give you very edible Kalua Pork instead of a fruitcake when you live there.

Actually the Welcome Wagon in Sulani brings Kava. The pork is a separate thing that can happen more than once, even more than once a week. I pity the vegetarian sims living in Sulani.
