Assignment 2 - Happy Place
Kayla: We're about a year and two months into the relationship, Toby and me had just moved into his place, the tension was high, he was getting much sleep due to the fact I toss and turn too much, we where having a hard time paying rent and trying to buy food, we where barely getting by, I had just been fired and Toby only makes so much money.
"Alright, what if I just ask my mom to help us out this one time?"
Toby: "NO! We can do this on our own, I don't want you asking your mom for help, we can do this." He said with the most attitude I've ever heard from him.
"But Tob-"
Toby: "NO BUTS! I'm being serious, leave it alone Kayla, we'll figure it out." I sighed and put my face in my hands, rent was due almost a week ago and we're still 200$ short.
"How do you suppose we get the money then? because you keep shutting down all my ideas, so you figure it out!" I shouted the last part, he looked at me stunned. "It's true.." I mumbled out the last part and got up, he was just sitting on the couch, writing on a piece of paper trying to see if he could sell anything.
Toby: "We could pawn our game system until' we can get the money back to get it out." I sighed.
I shook my head."Fine, anything to get rent paid, how did we even end up this short?!" Toby lowered his head, I continued looking at him.
"Toby, how did we end up this short?" I asked again, we had spent the same amount of money last month and was still able to make rent.
He rolled his head to where it's facing me but wouldn't look at me, his hand was covering his mouth.
"Toby! Answer me." I demanded, He stood up and looked away from me.
Toby: "I LOST A BET ALRIGHT!" I took a step back as I was now confused. "What do you mean you lost a bet! What kind of bet?"
Toby: "Remember last week, I went to hang out with some of the guys?" I nodded my head. "Alright well, we decided to have an innocent game of dare or double dog dare, that ended up with us placing money on each other, I don't know why I went through with it, it was stupid..." I started biting my tongue."So how did YOU end up losing 200$ OF OUR RENT MONEY?!" I was so upset with him, how could he we've barely been living together and he's already making it difficult.
"Dylan was dared to to jump off a 5 story building and into their pool, I thought Dylan would go through with it sense he's a dare devil and all, turned out when he got up there he didn't know how to swim and didn't want to tell us, I had already made a bet with Jarrett he had only wanted to bid 100$ but I made him bump it up thinking we could have an extra 200$ this month...I'm sorry Kayla..." I was so agitated with him I tried biting my tongue but I snapped on him.
"YOU REALLY THINK SORRY CAN FIX THIS, TOBY WE ARE NOT 16, YOU CAN'T BE MAKING BET'S ON DARE'S! WE'RE SUPPOSE TO BE RESPONSIBLE ADULTS! WE'RE LIVING TOGETHER TOBY, YOU CAN'T BE DOING THINGS LIKE THAT! I THOUGHT YOU WHERE MORE MATURE THAN MAKING STUPID BETS!!" I started storming out, we lived near a hiking trail so I followed that trail, after maybe 20 minutes I decided to stop and sit on a rock for a minute.
I took in the fresh air, the outdoor smell, it's amazing. I looked around my surroundings, tree's, rocks, more tree's, more rocks. I sighed, what was he thinking!? I just can't believe him..
Then that's when I heard. "Gosh Kayla, you took off so fast." I rolled my eyes I didn't even want to look at him, he sat beside me.
"Kayla, please I'm sorry I messed up, I'll do better." I scoffed. "How are you going to do better! You've already messed up in such a short amount of time! How could you do that Toby?!" He was a taken back, I felt bad but I was just so upset with him, I waited a minute he still hadn't said anything, I sighed and looked down to see a tear fall from his eye. "Pause?" I asked him, he didn't look up. "What do you mean pause?" he said in a sad tone. "We pause and come back to this argument later?" He nodded his head, I held out my hand he stood up and held it, we started walking off the the trail path.
After 30 minutes of aimlessly walking that's when I saw it...
"Toby! Toby! Look!!!" I took off running with him walking behind me. "It's so beautiful!!" Toby emerged and his eyes lit up. "I know you're so gorgeous!" I laughed and rolled my eyes. "Not me! The waterfall!"
"Oh yeah that is as well." He stated. "I wanna go swimming in it! It's so magnificent!" I was getting really hyped up about it."So swim in it." I looked back at him."I don't have a swimsuit?"
"Oh Kayla, Just swim in your underwear it's the same thing really, I'll even swim with you." He took off his shirt."What about your shorts?" He shook his head."I don't care if they get wet." I smiled and undressed, I jumped into the cool, refreshing water, it felt so nice it was peaceful, you could hear the birds chirping, the water flowing, it was amazing.."
An hour after, we got out and began drying off."Toby..." I walked over to him. "Yeah?" I looked at him with my 'puppy eyes'.
"I'm sorry for snapping on you, I was just so upset you would do that, but we're not perfect we all make mistakes and you where just trying to do something nice for us.." I looked down.
"Hey, I'm sorry as well, I shouldn't have made a bet in the first place with our rent money, it was irresponsible I'll admit I messed up, I truly am sorry, I hate fighting with you and that was a mistake I won't repeat." He lifted my head up and picked me up, giving me a gentle kiss and we just stayed there for a moment, with our foreheads touching just looking in each other's eyes.
After that day, that became our "Happy Place' whenever we're in a bad fight we'll "pause" get our swimsuits and whatever else and go to our Happy Place.

I was having the hardest time trying to figure out what a good "Happy place" would be and what they would even fight about as I'm not a person who fights so this was a pretty difficult thing for me but it was really fun doing! :D

After that day, that became our "Happy Place' whenever we're in a bad fight we'll "pause" get our swimsuits and whatever else and go to our Happy Place.
