@EverGreenLife Do you enlarge the photo? Enlarging it from its original size will result in a loss of quality to make up for the pixels that you are adding into the image. The larger you enlarge it, the more quality you will lose because the program is trying to compensate more and more by just adding "colour blocks" to your image.
Also, maybe I'm incorrect and please do correct me if that's the case, but it seems... oversharpened as well? Did you sharpen your entry perhaps? :o
I'm sure Miz's thread here can help you quite a bit. If you have any more questions feel free to ask around. :)
TYSM!!! And yeah I did :anguished: omg
@EverGreenLife That would explain it. Sharpening the photo can add clarity to the image, but doing too much of it adds unwanted artefacts. A good rule of thumb is that once you start seeing spots (in your entry, take note at her necklace and the hair strands on her collarbones) and unsightly black/white lines where they shouldn't be, you've done too much. Fortunately we have the Undo tool, and if your program allows Smart Sharpen, I suggest you use that instead. :)
Another thing that allows you to control sharpening is by duplicating the layer, sharpening that layer, and lowering the opacity to the desired effect. That way if you did too much or if you don't like how it turned out, you can just delete the layer and start over again. You can't revert the sharpening effect on an image without the Undo tool.
Hope that helps! :)
EDITED TO ADD: I forgot! Thank you for the congratulations everyone <3
