Moochellie Makes - 2nd Entry
Hello, Sim family!!
I fiiiiiinally finished another Simspired sewing project.
I'm not gonna lie, this projects had me beat. I started it around Jan/Feb, made good progress, then came the fitting. Only thing is, the fabric I used is prone to terrible fraying. So when I tried to take it apart to adjust the size, the fabric basically disintegrated.
Then I spent some time trying to figure out how to work around it so that I still have an in tact garment. Day and night I obsessed over it until I finally decided to just scrap it completely and start over again.
I've been sewing for almost 20 years and very seldom does a sewing project beat me into the ground, LOL.
After moths of working on the perfect garment, I present to you the newest addition to my wardrobe. A dress from Seasons...
At first glance I was confused by the structure. Considering the bodice crosses over from the left side, but the shirt's front left side hem looks like it overlaps onto the back, I was like how in the plumbob does this wrap dress work?????? Until closer inspection I "decided" that this isn't a wrap dress and just a plain dress with a basic waist seam 😆
After staring from scratch I opted for a scuba spandex just in case I had to adjust the fitting again, which I did, but it was easier with the stretch fabric because I didn't have to use a side zipper for it. I love stretch fabrics for this very reason. You can make dresses that you can just slip on 🎉
I love the similarities that came out in the finished product - the draping in the bodice just above the waist seam and the gathering around the waist of the skirt.
The only thing I deviated away from the Sim dress was the length of the skirt hem. Because I want to wear this dress to work I didn't think the height of the left side skirt was work-appropriate. Still, I'm thrilled with how it came out.
And just with the last Sim sewing project, I just HAD to get the matching shoes. A pair of sling sandals in orange 😍
Well, that's it for now. I already chose the next garment to make.
Hint... It's a blue dress from Horse Ranch. I already have the pattern set aside, now I just need to get the fabric 🤩🤩🤩
