Episode 46: Elliott's New Job
The Watcher decided that it wasn't necessary for Elliott to give the customary two weeks notice so the next morning he woke a bit later than usual and had a leisurely breakfast.
He wanted to get started on his new career right away so he searched the computer for job openings. He was in luck! The local Art Gallery was looking for a Palette Cleaner. The hours were 9-5 Monday through Friday, with a daily pay of 168 simoleans. With his first promotion he would earn the ability to sell his paintings to the Art Gallery. This would give him the opportunity to earn some additional money. He wasn't surprised to discover that the salary for the top position in the painter career was actually higher than his salary as a lawyer. You didn't work in the public defenders office if making a lot of money was your goal. He filled out the application online and uploaded it to the Art Gallery.
Two hours later he received a call from the gallery director. The director wanted to ask Elliott some additional questions. He must have been impressed with Elliott's responses because he offered Elliott the job. He would start the following day.
Elliott spent the rest of the day with his girls, Hannah and Faith. He couldn't remember the last time he'd felt so relaxed and able to completely devote his attention to his family.
The next morning Elliott eagerly headed out. It felt strange not wearing a suit or carrying his briefcase. He had a feeling though that he'd get used to it in no time.
Elliott was kept very busy on his first day. Instead of the orientation he'd expected he was roped into helping prepare the Gallery for a huge exhibit for a new artist who was already making waves in the art world.
He spent most of the day unboxing and hanging paintings. The artist specialized in watercolors and each painting Elliott unboxed was more spectacular than the last. There was no specific theme just the use of beautifully soft colors with a variety of subjects and painting techniques.
As he carefully hung each painting Edward hoped that one day he'd be showing his own collection.
At the end of the day he was tired but wanted to stop next door and check out the Willow Creek Art Center. It was a gathering place for the local artist community and provided many services to up and coming artists. There were regular guest lecturers, art classes, studios for painting, and most importantly, the opportunity for networking. There was a yearly fee but one of Elliott's benefits was free membership.
Lecture Room
There's a small cafe where he can pop in for lunch.
Elliott envisioned spending many happy hours here. For the first time in a long time he headed home to have dinner with his girls, Hannah and Faith.

It is great that Eliott’s first day in his new painting career went well. He is already enjoying the benefits of his decision to leave his law career, with him being able to spend more time and meals with his family. The Willow Creek Arts Centre is lovely! 🙂 The design, furnishing and layout are great! Sims would enjoy painting on the easels there and it looks great the way the easels are in a circle, so sims can paint at the same time as fellow artists. The lecture room is great, and the cafe is a very nice place to have food and a drink.

I am so happy for Elliot. It's great when you love what you do so that it's not really work at all, but you're getting paid to have fun. The Art Center is really nicely done, too. I look forward to the next update.
