It would be great if sims can also own, manage and work there operating rides, attending game booths and food stalls and we can hire employees and assign their outfits like in Dine Out.
I can't imagine anything more boring. If your sim is a writer, they sit at their computer and type, type, type for hours. Boring. You do get a book to publish and royalties but still boring. I can't imagine following my sim to the carnival to watch them man a booth all day. Jobs should be interesting if your going to follow them to work, like a doctor, scientist, vet, all at least have actions and tasks to accomplish. Booth tending, no thanks.
I'm sorry you can't imagine anything more boring. I don't imagine owning, managing or working at an amusement park boring though.
I think it would be great if I can have one of my sims own the amusement park, some of my other sims work there, and the rest of my sims go there for rides, games, food and just to socialize. I think being able to switch from playing as the owner to playing as the employee to playing as the customer is what many simmers want as it gives us more control over our worlds. We want to rule!
Manning a game booth or concession stand does not need to be boring. They can add a list of tasks like for the other active careers. In real life, game booth attendants and concession stand employees don't just stand there all day. They have tasks just like employees in other jobs.
It would be a great time to bring back a working cash register and the ticket machine like we had in TS2 OFB too!
Okay, what list of tasks do you imagine happening while playing a sim that mans a booth or a ride? What exactly are you imagining because it must be much more impressive than I can imagine. So, give me a breakdown of your sims day, working at a carnival somewhere. What exactly happens?
The tasks would depend on what the developers want to include. I'm not going to supply you with a list of possibilities. If you're not familiar with the tasks of a booth attendant or ride operator, I would suggest that you do your research and then put a funny spin on them.
The tasks that they do is less boring than the tasks of a seamstress or dress designer, which are jobs you want included in the game. Booth attendants and ride operators at least interact with others unlike what you want.
What does interacting with other sims have to do with anything? I would hardly call handing a sim a taco at a food stall "interacting". And to watch my sim stand by the gate to a ride other sims are enjoying for eight hours of my sims day is hardly my idea of engaging fun.
A seamstress could do work for others and a dressmaker could sell their dresses in a shop to other sims if the "developers included these tasks".
The devs saw fit not allow our sims to be chefs, hosts and waiters in their own restaurants so I can't see them allowing our sims to be carnies.
Interacting with other sims have a lot to do with it. Sims have a need to socialize, and they can build or destroy relationships through social interactions.
Also, who says concession stand attendants can only hand out food? And who says ride operators can only stand by the gate?
And why do you think that watching a writer sim who sits at a computer typing all day is boring, but for some reason, think that watching a seamstress sim who sits at a sewing machine sewing all day is not boring?
Similary, why do you think that watching a sim hand a taco to another sim at a taco stand is boring, but watching a sim hand a dress to another sim at a dress shop is not boring?
And why do you think that watching a ride operator sim stand by a gate to a ride while other sims are enjoying themselves on the ride is boring, but watching a dressmaker sim stand by a dress dummy while other sims are enjoying themselves in their clothes is not boring?
I think an amusement park EP with rides, games and food stands along with the ability for our sims to own, work at and visit has way more to offer than a seamstress or dressmaker job, which is unnecessary since we already have CAS, plus we can already buy clothes in GTW.
I never said dress making was exciting, but it is more exciting than carnival ride operator. With dress making, you have to design it, cut out the pieces on a table, sew them together, pin it up on a dummy and model it for a client. True, not packed with excitement but tops standing at a switch and turning rides on and off.
Have you ever been to an amusement park? Did you get into deep conversations with the ride operators? Did you become lifelong pals? Probably not. You were probably told to keep the line moving. Not exactly a warm and fuzzy conversation.
A carnival/amusement park would be no different than a restaurant which you can own but staff with other sims. The big draw of that pack would be your sim going to enjoy the park, not work there. No one will buy a carnival pack just to work there.
You clearly have your opinion of what's fun and I have mine and neither of us will change our minds. Happy simming.
I know that you don't know me, but I don't need an explanation on what a dressmaker does. I likely know more about what a dressmaker does than you.
And yes, I've been to an amusement park. In fact, I know first hand that ride operators don't just stand at a switch turning rides on and off. I also know first hand that concession stand attendants don't just hand out food.
I can't see the decision makers investing the amount required for programmers, animators and object creators to go into the level of detail you described just for a dressmaker, especially when sims don't need to buy clothes and we already have GTW. For your sake, I hope there are other things you want that have a better chance of getting made.
I agree that our opinions differ on what's fun, and that you won't change my mind. I disagree, however, that nobody will buy a carnival pack just so sims can work there. Simmers have been requesting more stuff for their teen and elder sims to do as well as more part time jobs so adding part time jobs for them in an amusement park EP would fulfill the request.
Yes, owning an amusement park isn't that different from owning a restaurant, but the business system is already in the game so it won't take much resources to add the ability to own the amusement park. Plus simmers have been requesting the return of the ticket machine.
The benefit of adding an amusement park EP with the ability to not only visit the park, but also to own it and work there is that more simmers would likely buy the EP which may translate into a larger budget.
