In 2021 the simmer ashubii started a thread by this name, which served as an inspiration to several of us. Now like many other threads the screenshots did not get transferred over, nor did it en...
While the first children's post with clothes from 1890s has worked well so far, a lot of changes happen to children's clothes in the 1920s so it's worth a new post. Some things are still the same, however, and the infant dress is still the way to go with infants. No need to change anything for that. Toddlers however were put in more gendered clothes earlier, and so that's where I start this post.
Toddlers
For boys they started wearing shorts much earlier than before, so for everyday wear I've chosen the one good pair of shorts we have for toddlers along with the cropped pants from FR. With it I've chosen the same top in different colors with the new type of sweater vest that as increasing in popularity at the time. For the formal/party outfit the shorts version of a suit (wish we had longer socks for boys though, as these are too short). Next you'll see sleeping (pjs) and swimsuit (same as before).
For summer I used the same shorts in blue and two different shirts in blue. From the pictures I've seen blue, green and brown were colors many boys were, and the sailor uniform was very popular. It did not look like the shirt here, but it's the closest we can get to it in game, so it will have to serve as a representation. The winter outfit is just a jacket with the same cropped pants from FR as in everyday wear.
For girls skirts and dresses were used, usually roomy and filled with patterns. For everyday wear I've chosen a few different dresses and outfits that were the right length. The same outfits could be used for 30s and 40s as well. I picked one of the formal dresses for formal/party but there are a few that are passable. Nightgown and swimwear is the same as before. A few summer outfits that fits well with the 20s aesthetics and finally the same winter outfit as for previous decades.
Children
For boys changes were more subtle than for toddlers. Boys still wore shorts rather than pants until they were teens, so the same outfits from before work well. I have, however, included one longer pant outfit among the everyday outfit to represent working class boys who often started working as young as 10 and then were allowed to wear long pants (as they were now "adults"). For formal wear we unfortunately do not have a good short pants version so this will have to do. The last outfit in this picture is athletic wear which saw the same changes as it did for men.
For sleep we have the pjs, swimsuit is close to what it was before if not the same, for winterwear we have the same as before but also a new overall for those working boys.
For girls skirts and dresses went down to at least mid thigh (younger girls) or below the knee (older girls). The same resembled that of women, with a straight line and marked hips. These dresses would work for everyday and summer for girls both in the 1920s and 1930s (with exception for the last one which is very 1920s).
For formalwear I picked two dresses to represent the same style. The second is probably more 20s than 30s. The last two outfits in this picture is athletics wear. The first picture represent the skirts and knitted top that was common at the time (though skirts would be longer), and the second outfit is a representation that it became more common for girls to wear bloomers or even pants when doing sports.
Finally, sleep, swimming, and winterwear. I think I've used all but the third before and there isn't so much to say about either of them.
