No CC Decades Outfits

I'm not sure if there's a thread like this already, sorry if so! I'm not on the forums much anymore.
Anyway! As a big lover of the Decades Challenge, I've always wondered if it'd be possible to do the challenge with no CC whatsoever. I think it is, although I also think it'd be very difficult. I've decided to make a project out of trying to create outfits for the Decades without using any CC.

I've mostly focused on Teen/YA+ Feminine outfits because I just find them easier. Once I finish I might go back and do Masculine & Children outfits, as well as wedding looks.

Also, I welcome any other outfits or ideas anyone has and wants to share!

It has to be said, but I'm no expert on historical fashion. I try to do research but since I'm relying on just what we have without CC, these aren't going to be very accurate.

1890-1919

Yes, I know this encompasses like... three whole decades. However, lumping these together was the easiest for me lol. I think these decades are the absolute most difficult to accomplish without CC. They're not perfect, but I did my best! Also, I skipped a few outfit categories for this but later one I'll do an outfit for each.

Thankfully Get Famous blesses us with some lovely gowns that work pretty well for this period. Also, that classic Gibson Girl hairstyle! In one of these decades (I forget which, but maybe all three?) men's fashion began to influence women's a bit. I tried to represent that a little with the third outfit.

This second Formal outfit is a bit inappropriate for the time period for several reasons:
1. Too lowcut.
2. The open sides.
3. The transparency around the midriff.

However, I think the overall length and style kind of works for that Edwardian evening wear.

For sleep outfits, I just wanted a simple white nightshift or nightgown. The first one is actually the graduation gown from Discover University, but I think it's probably my favorite for a modest sleeping gown :)

  • So many fantastic outfit-ideas, especially for the twenties. I think I will likely use a lot of looks from here when I get there. I'm still early in my play ca 1900-1905, but a few has aged up lately so I'd figured I could share this.

The first one was an NPC farmer son who aged up to a teen, so a good chance to get some lower income clothing for men in the thread. Since the blue jean was invented already in 1870s, I gave his dad a jean overall from cottage living, and the son another overall (I think) from the same pack.

For formal/party wear I gave him one of the suspender outfits, this one from MWS:

My work out wear for ca 80% of all males in game is the turtle neck from Cats and Dogs and the cropped pants from Laundry day (in different color combinations). The shoes and socks are base game.

I also had an infant and a toddler grow up this week, and those I always dress nearly identical. At the time, infants and toddlers were all dressed in white, dress like clothing, as they were easy to boil and bleach, so I use the same outfits for all toddlers and infants in game.

Infants all get this dress, for all occasions:

As this was a boy, I gave him this outfit from MWS for formal/party wear. The pants are a bit too long for what boys usually wore at the time, but it works well enough. Note that both toddler and infant were from a more well off family than the first one, or clothes are usually a bit simpler.

I might do more as more people in my game ages up, if that is okay of course. I just felt that this was too good a thread to be forgotten.
  • As one of my teens just aged up to young adult I thought I'd add some more male outfits. Please let me know if you prefer I post this somewhere else @Ashubii as I don't want to hijack your thread, just add some more inspiration to a fabulous idea.

    1890s:

This is a rich household. The father is Joseph Whittaker, and he favours his casual three piece lounge suit, the new fashion at the turn of the century. While buying new outfits for his son, he took the chance to add a new sporting jacket to his 'wear at home' attire. For formal wear he wears tails, and there are several of these in game that work fine for the decade. He also wears a moustache, as was the customs of the time.

    https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/a/AVvXsEjDKTqBRePOxcRKl83At-4FM1NVGPwh6Gv96Ds6lb05IYLup_YIbdxZHuA2I7a8WeSMS5iK3lM_R8RCXXb_w79BfuV4bDyosZ26rj9wTN46Nko5faQGnAuTIZKIvGFEd88W4S_xY4-osTpCceHE9sqfVL9hSCN_mHfIrNdpTTw9oyOBR8uR8v_-lHArd56v=s16000

    1900s:

The son, being younger prefers the new clean shaven look that was popular amongst youths in the early 1900s (but will likely sport a moustache at an older age). He has short trimmed hair, and in stead of the top hat that his father wears outdoors, prefers variation of one of the many new styles of the decade.

Now in the early 1900s, a vest was always worn under anything, they were buttoned quite high (it was cold inside) and lapels were slim. There are not that many suits or suit jackets that fit that description. The blue one Frank wears, you could imagine there being a vest under. It's a bit on the short side, but I think it works for that sailor look that was popular at the time. I have also used some vest looks that I think fit relatively well, though normally, a man would not remove his jacket like this. I save those looks for hot weather. Like his father, Frank wears a tail with a top hat for formal wear, but has a slightly easier morning coat for party wear (the lapels on this are too big for the era, but the shape and lenght are good).

    https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/a/AVvXsEjvw-jEeLXE_7Mc7YxcVWBRX42MX4SUOERC2QOSUz_hPOYUzJpDvZrumPrKP01w2r-2Ly3DI6oF_tkLD_eq2ZNXg2eiih02wcaRObKwbzh5fWJXsI44fn2e0ElXnXmx7k00y54xKFySfrxMeSmgw9e7q5Q0fs_tjxblVjLoo8LKvXKc8cgVdXCvS9aL4SGI=s16000

For sportswear he has one outfit for the more active sports and one for the calmer ones, like hiking, jogging or golfing. The sweater was just starting to become popular for athletic wear at the time (though had not made it into normal attire just yet).

  • As I have reached the 1910s in my game, I'd figure I might as well post the looks for one of the girls here at this point:

    Everyday wear:
    https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/a/AVvXsEhr8ap-bjjKBBtzb_ApX7NfTW0QjsHI-0L5opT0Vg5cVLXpO0kWC42g8W3TEbugcXYWFcpGOf65vc-yR2fC1tkMpOVuVH4TpUZzmTrfUw2hkLpwo9-or0JV9ShQxWL7MnXBhWmRlcKhlMirBHNX-fZYECO7FOOclK5pSLJXrC3fApeSjl80krlIqqSo2yhv=w640-h384
I really like the modest dress for the 1910s. It has the right silhouette and with the flowers it fits into the more art nouveau style of the time, hinting at the art deco to come. The second look is more a work/studious look, inspired by men's clothes. I use the shoes from the vampire pack a lot still, I think they work well in this decade too.

    Formal and sportswear:
    https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/a/AVvXsEh0H9R2MjkcnrIS1tkq6thnyI-5ylC2u195Njq9lJvq4vZrMDcS4L4fowEA0K1BvrbRV2gIHB_pJFfodh4l5UNlhIVltUwOxDHdw7TUKHUu6GeFBsPnyYG-MwtmXZFjltiJICGg5K7k5qNg90tZdn8liqUhDW-2mttJ1w1K64oBQ17RrThPQhi7GrInX7gy=w640-h408
For the formal wear, I really love this as an alternative to the other edwardian outfit in game. It's sleek, filled with flowers and lace. I think it works well. As for the sports outfits I really love the skirt from the Incheon-pack for athletics wear, it's a sort of tennis-inspired outfit as tennis was very popular. I've made one outfit like this entirely in white too. The second sports outfit is for the rider, or the mountain climber or the exploring woman, the closest thing to bloomers I could find in game.

    Sleepwear, swimwear and cold-weather wear
    https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/a/AVvXsEhgGuAmSnXjnuKtt3k7ucjWY5dOiDR8zfgW0i-KuunRfLx81dicsV20MJJLdVa92zvKNp-Lx8fG85MtzP_rA3nkKe2VPEQYVuYJXM5gTfkJxydcQYSi6Od-ldsHLkYxD-LgFds9jftLXRu7tZi_h27IeDXmTGYvMMa7Bcxdi9MI1024McrW0_d4a3HmYAJa=w640-h406
Here I used several of the same ones that you @Ashubii, your outfits has been really inspirational. The sleepwear is the same as you had for 1890-1919, and the cold weather wear is what you used for 1920s, although I thought it fit well here too. The swimwear is the closest i could find to the swimming dresses of the time.
  • I have gotten to the 1920s in my decades challenge and so my three sisters has gotten a 1920s update. In game I use CC, but I made a version without CC for each of the sisters. Some outfits were made with inspiration from this thread, others are based on newer packs. I find For Rent has great stuff for a twenties, actually. Lot of straight lines. I've given each sister two everyday outfit, and then one for each other category. It's far from perfect, but the twenties is really hard in this game.

    Anna: The explorer
Anna, the eldest, is the one you had in the 1910s, and she wants to be an explorer. She keeps some outfits in the 1920s but get new ones. She's been a nurse in the war, cut her hair because it was convenient before it was a fashion statement and has taken to heart the leisure-wear trend of the 20s. She likes things that are comfortable and durable, and she's even added pants to her collection of clothes. (Note that the top in the second outfit is from the male collection of For Rent)

    Alice: The starlet
Alice wants to be a famous actress, and is trying to make it big in Del Sol Valley. She favours clothes that are bold, bright and stand out and when she goes dancing she does it flapper style.

    Josephine: The future wife
Josephine dreams of the traditional life of being a stay-at-home mother and raise the perfect family and be the perfect wife. Her clothes are fit for tending to kids and house, and she only has the one really fancy dress that she wears to both parties and formal events.
