One Month One World One Year Challenge 2022

Cale tanked down some Energy juice before working out the next morning. He wanted the extra kick to help keep training longer. Afterward, he went to the medium walls in the neighborhood for a climbing session.

He had another set of perfect climbs and was totally pumped about it!

Climbing the walls increases the rock climbing skill, but it seems slower than I remembered. I've never had any of my Sims try the climbing machine, so I thought I'd have Cale give it a try to see if it was faster. Spoiler - it's not, it's slower. Anyway, I put a basement in the gym I'd placed in Newcrest and sent Cale there in the very early morning hours.

He did very well on the vertical in easy mode and didn't fall even once.

Then he tried the incline mode, a medium challenge. He started out well, but...

...fell every single time. Not enough to hurt anything though, except his pride.

Cale decided the climbing machine just wasn't for him. He'd rather climb outside in the fresh air on real rocks.

Since he was there anyway, he went upstairs and did some more boxing on the punching bag. The only other Sims there were vampires. That's Damon over there on the treadmill. Molly was there too wandering around in a towel, and just a couple of my own NPC vampires.

Back home, I extended Cale's shack by one tile length on the left side to make his bedroom bigger and give him a chess set to get focused before climbing.

Soon it was time to harvest his garden and he got a fabulous surprise! The Orchid he'd grafted to get had finally grown! He planted it in the bedroom for now. Today is the last day of Fall in his world and he has over 10K again. I'll be building him a greenhouse tomorrow and a few other updates to his home.

Cale bought some rock climbing skill books to see if those increased the skill faster. They do, much, much faster than climbing the walls or using that machine. He's now reached Level 6 and is very close to Level 7. Let's go to the mountain Cale!

When he got there, a blizzard was going on at the bottom of the ski lift. Maybe we should go home and try again tomorrow Cale.

It was even worse at the top, but Cale was determined to do this, slowly making his way toward the climbing walls. Cale? I can barely see you, are you sure about this Buddy?

Well, I guess you're right. There's no way to tell what the weather will be on the mountain when you go.

Once he got to the top though, Cale hesitated after getting a peek at the icy snow covering the surface of the rocks.
(Okay, you win. No way am I going up there. There's a crust of ice on that snow.)
Good, be careful, go slow on your way back down.

*GASP* Hold on Cale! He slipped multiple times on the way down and again I thought he was a goner.

Slipping and sliding Cale finally made it safely down the walls and headed back down to the bottom of the lifts.

While he was walking back to the Onsen, to check out the cold food vending machine for harvestables (he got a grape), Cale ran into Joel and told him about his plans.
"You're going to climb to the top? Seriously?"
"You got it! That's the plan!"

"Now listen here, you're just a kid. Jon told me you've been training hard, but it takes a lot of strength, determination, skill and focused maturity to climb that mountain. I should know, I've done it a few times myself. It's dangerous up there. You'll face walls MUCH taller than anything you've ever climbed before, nasty blizzard conditions, deep snow and if you don't know what you're doing, you might die, no, you WILL die!. Don't try to go alone either. What makes you think you're ready?"
