I don't know if I would trust the game with creating those outfits.

I personally go through all my sims wardrobes and Design each of their outfits, and make sure all the sims who I would have together for an event would match the setting. (Usually same dress different color)

So I would say "Have guests arrive in Formal Outfit 1" or "Party outfit 3" should be an option.
