Honestly the game play is so so smooth in sims 4 that I could care less about loading screens. Sims 3 was always choppy and laggy, which sometimes made it hard to play. Don't get me wrong I love sims 3 and still continue to play it, but even the base game of sims 3 is laggy for me. Plus it loads so quickly into the game itself while sims 3 could take 10 minutes to just load into the saves menu. And then sims 4 takes 5 seconds to load into a save (usually even less time) and sims 3 took another 10. So I'm not going to complain about the lack of open world because I see their perspective on it. It wasn't just so people with older and lower end computers could play it, but to stop the insane amount of glitches that were caused by the open world alone.
Personally the only thing I badly want to change in this game is the lack of story progression. It isn't easy for us legacy style players to play how we want to without any progression but aging happening in other households. Instead we have to add children to households to keep up the generations in other households so the heirs have people to marry. I'd like toddlers back as well, but I want them more exciting. The toddlers in sims 3 frustrated me more than anything because I got bored with them quick. Hopefully if they do toddlers they do them like the children in sims 4 because I really adore the children now. I liked them in 3, but they are fantastic in 4. :smiley:
