It should be possible to create Sims who aren't so...peppy. Loners don't really stand out from other Sims much, they just get certain moodlets for being alone or being near people. But it doesn't really show in their demeanor. Same issue with mean and evil Sims. Though they also have a tendency to choose meaner interactions. But overall, Sims are all too smiley. It makes sense for a cheerful Sim, but not one who's mean, evil and a loner. LOL.
Likes/dislikes, more 'negative' traits, more negative emotions... Some possible traits: Grumpy, brooding, smug, neurotic, stoic, apathetic/indifferent, a shy/loner/socially awkward trait that shows more in the Sim's behavior and not just in a few moodlets, ect.
More trait slots in CAS - at least 5, like TS3 had, or a few more. Combine that with the personality systems from TS2 and TS3. Traits + turn ons/turn offs + likes/dislikes + those personality meter things from TS1 and TS2... and improvements to the emotions system. The traits themselves could be significantly improved as well. The "romantic" trait should be more noticeable than just some flirty moodlets and a couple of extra interactions. Like, I dunno...give them access to more romantic things that aren't available to other Sims. Not even just flirting, but like...a more head-in-the-clouds sort of personality as well. Or something like that. Lol. I tend to imagine my own romantic Sims as fantasy-prone, but that's my own personal bias, because I'm fantasy-prone to the extreme... :P Otherwise there could at least be a separate trait for that.
