- CathyTeaNew SpectatorI'm making up a dog legacy....
An elder adopts a puppy. Before the elder passes away, she needs to find someone to move in to care for the dog after she's gone.
During that person's lifetime, the main goal will be to breed the dog. Keep at least one puppy to be the next heir. And then before that person passes, he needs to find someone who will care for the dog(s) after he passes, and so on until 10 gen.
I'll work out all the details as I play! - i created one called the 100 stray challenge! basically you own an animal shelter, and you rescue strays. you need to find someone to take each stray permanently. you have to be good friends with them, and give them 125 simoleans (decrease your money and increase theirs) to take care of the pet. once someone adopts a pet, give yourself 200 simoleans. Hope you like it! :)

They need to make an update where if you own two pets, you can breed them
Nevermind. We can - Hmmm.... Well, there could be a couple of different things. Like a CAS challenge where you try to make an owner and a pet look alike.
Or maybe like... a Petacy? Where you start off with a normal legacy except you add a dog or cat to it? - You can do one that I made up called, "Save the Strays." It's still a work in progress, and I'm making it up as I go along. I am doing this with dogs, so that's what the pets are going to be referenced as, as I'm not 100% sure you can do all of this with a cat, but feel free to correct me.
Set Up: You start off with a sim that can be and look however you like, but they have to be a YA and it is recommended that they are a dog lover and have the animal aspiration. Create a dog that will be your sim's best friend, and they have to become companions as quickly as possible. Start out in a world and you have to have the lot traits of, "Dog Hangout," and "Training Ground." Set the lifespan to your liking (Normal is recommended).
Your sim can't have a job but can do things at home to make money such as garden, paint or write, however, it is not necessary. Adopt a stray, teach them tricks, and take care of them. You must be at least good friends with the strays before giving them away. When giving away the stray for adoption, give yourself a certain amount of money for every trick they know, (I like to do $1,000 per trick) and a certain amount if your sim and the stray are companions (I recommend $500.) The money you give yourself for each trick and whether or not you've reached companion level can be decided by you, the numbers I provided are what works for me since my sim does nothing around the house to earn money. In addition, your original dog has to learn all the tricks by the time they reach the elder stage. The challenge ends when your original dog dies but can be continued if it has puppies. You must set up 3 or more feeding bowls outside your house, and fill them daily, to feed the strays that will hang around to your house.
Optional: Take a picture of every stray you've saved and given away to a loving home to create a little gallery on the wall.
Don't let any of the dogs get taken away. If either your original dog or 3 strays get taken away, you lose the challenge.
Feel free to give any tips and recommendations. - I made a legacy challenge that uses stuff from cats&dogs, but it's not the full focus.

@Gigglecake I like that idea...like you need to reach 10 generations (or more, if their lifespans are shorter) of pets alongside your 10 generations of sims.- There's a challenge called Pethood that's been going around tumblr recently.. seems interesting
- I am kicking off my Barker Family Legacy today.
I am going to purchase the Hound's Head 64 x 64 Lot for 12K. ( If you do it? You need to move to a temp lot and knock the house on Hound's Head down before moving in). From there I will follow the conventional legacy rules by buying Knight of the Octagon Table decoration costing $8,200.
I just need to decide if I want to start with a pet or not?
If I start with a pet I am left with $1800. (this is the amount I was left with when I started with a human and a dog). This money should first be used to purchase Pet supplies: Dog: bowl, bed and bath. Cat: Bowl, Bed/cat stand thing and litter tray.
If I start without a pet I am $200 short to purchase the Knight of the Octagon Table decoration. So I will have to earn that and purchase the decoration before I purchase anything else. Also, I think there should be a rule here about being able to buy a set of pet supplies before being allowed to adopt a pet.
My Legacy will run for a standard 10 human generations. I am guessing there will be more pet generations. But the idea is to have one litter and keep 1 puppy or kitten from each generation.
@Gigglecake I do think it would be fun to create a founder and a pet that look alike and see how different the 10th generation and pet look.
This is the link to The Legacy Challenge website how to get started page: https://simslegacychallenge.com/the-sims-4-legacy-challenge-rules/ - I am having a rethink. It was hard watching my dogs die. ❤️
