Rooms

I could kick myself because I meant to add this to that feedback discussion that was open about a week ago but I was so focused on my other ideas this one completely slipped my mind!

Any who I think this is could be possible but I can see TS4 adding a ROOM SYSTEM.
Hear me out I know you can just lock doors for certain Sims but I feel like the room system could expand some gameplay and interactions.

So the room system would work as such – you move your Sims into a regular home with regular rooms. In build mode once you’re done with the house there’s some UI option that allows you to assign rooms to certain Sims master bedroom, teen bedroom, baby room, with the ability to assign multiple Sims to one room. You can also can just assign regular rooms not attached to any particular Sims such as the office, living room, rec room, etc.
Once in live mode Sims would still do whatever they want to do, but say when you click on your Sim and under ”actions” there is a “hangout in” option and there you have the ability to have the Sim chill in that particular room. The Sim would go to the room selected and interact with whatever items are in there.

Examples:
1. I click on Sebastian and choose “hangout in” and choose his bedroom, he plays his guitar, tries on outfits from his dresser, watches his TV, sits on his chair and talks on the phone, goes to sleep if tired.
2. Deondre invites his friend Vincent over and I select “hang out in room with” and select the backyard where they swim in the pool, sit by the bonfire, talk, grill, and go in the hot tub.
3. I have Thalia and Shelia "hang out in" the kitchen, Thalia grabs a snack from the refrigerator, Shelia makes herself a BLT, and they sit at the table talk for a bit Thalia takes the trash out, Shelia washes the dishes.
4. Kim had a bad day at school and is angry she hangs out in her room and while kicking her stuff animal, Rashard just randomly walks in she notices and yells at him to Get Out, now he’s running out of the room sad and crying.
5. Lilly invites her best friend Mya over to spend the night, she has an assigned guest room and bathroom that Mya would use.
6. Ray and Loretta have been fighting and it’s taken a toll on their relationship they decide to sleep in different rooms, you could assign their own rooms.

This system would add a touch of reality with Sims using their own items a bit more. They sit at the desk in their room, they change from their dresser, they use their own bathrooms, etc.

But I wouldn’t want this system to lock Sims into that room forever I would want them to be smart enough to stop the hangout and tend to their needs or events such as work and school.

I think this system would add a some cool new interactions if executed properly. It would do wonders for University as well as Get to Work, Cats & Dogs even Parenthood.

Lemme know what thoughts ya’ll have!
  • I wouldn't mind this type of system (if it actually worked, as in the sims would actually autonomously "use" the items you placed in that room/area. That the sims would actually do those things together if you clicked the "do with ....".)

A lot of times I queue a task for my sim and they do it, but they do it for a second then abandon it and go do something totally irrelevant to their personality.

That's the issue I would not want for this type of system. I'm not a micro-manager at all, I do not get enjoyment out of stacking up a bunch of actions for my sim to do in a row. I much prefer for them to be smart enough to just do things and let me watch it all unfold, so their wants/actions actually drive the story.
  • Unlike @Chicklet453681 I definitely am a micro-manager! But I really like this idea. Sometimes I know I want my Sim(s) to be in a certain room, but I don't know what I want them to do in there. Having my Sims hangout in the kitchen, and autonomously grab a coffee/food as they chat would be great. It also means that they would stay and chat in the kitchen instead of wandering off.

Perhaps there could be an interaction similar to "send home", where Sims can ask others to leave a room. I can imagine teen Sims telling their younger siblings to "get out of my room".

    Really good idea.
