BnS #183 – Retro Revival☆ LaunchSneezes ☆Comments: This is such a cute family home! I love that you chose to place your house in Sulani, as that is my favorite world. Using the calming colors along with the sights and sounds of the ocean, your sim family is sure to feel very comfortable and relaxed here. The colors you have used and the style of the home suit Sulani perfectly. I love the big pool in the yard along with the big windows and the thatched roof. You have added so many great activities for sims to enjoy in this house and have used a nice amount of clutter to decorate the home. I love the toddlers’ bedroom! The view, the wallpaper, the reading area, the crafting and game tables all make this room spectacular! You have done a wonderful job on this home! Well done!Suggestions: The big pool is beautiful, but it would have been nice to see a few more activities for the children in the yard. I can see why you thought it would fit better in Henford-on-Bagley than in Brindleton Bay, it just has that countryside vibe. It definitely benefited from free window placement. The new windows on the front of the second floor are an obvious improvement. The landscaping is beautifully done and makes the house look so inviting. Great idea to turn the garage into a functional stable. The sunken living room is terrific. What a cute nursery! The baby’s going to get plenty of fresh air and sunlight sleeping under that window. The kids’ room looks so fun. Great voice of colors, it could be for a boy or a girl. And bunk beds! Another thing new since 2021, and such fun to build with. The metal frames are definitely the right style for this country cottage too. Suggestions: To take a screenshot of an interior space with no ceiling, use the level up arrow in Live Mode so the roof is visible,then go into Camera mode and use Q to lower the camera back down to the height you want. I hope you do have lights in the stable for the horses and your sims. You have a floating light in the corner near the sunken living. It looks like some windows are unevenly placed in the same area. A trick to make sure they’re even: When you’re placing windows, use a wallpaper with vertical lines, like Simple Siding, to help make sure they’re all on the same line. When you’re done, place the wallpaper you wanted to use. Please add captions to all images, not just some of them. ☆@AlphaFFrog ☆Comments: A church! I can’t say anyone has submitted one before, but I appreciate your creativity! Your background story about Ciara and ada and the screenshot of their meeting are so cool. I too miss Sim 3’s color wheel, but you did a great job recreating the church in Sims 4. It still has that old vibe, just well-cared for as you said. I like how you’ve included the information sign at the entrance. It could be anything from a church bulletin to a plaque describing the church’s history. The cemetery lookes appropriately spooky. The garden looks so restful and welcoming, sims will like relaxing there reading or enjoying nature. I would ssy you succeeded in creating a welcoming community lot. The tiles being darker on the uppler floor from lack of use was a great detail. The organ loft looks great despite the ceiling bug. Clever idea to use that fountain as a baptismal font. Actually, amazing attention to detail allaround - all the separate parts of the church with appropriate decor (and lighting!) for each. I love the basement bar - even a parish church has to make money somehow! Even the pets get remembered here, I don’t know too many real venues that do that. Suggestions: This is not really a criticism of your lot, but when I think of churches, I think of stained glass, so I’m a little disappointed not to see any in your build. Get Together has some that would’ve looked great here. ☆@KitelDesigns☆Comments: I can see the difference between your original build and the new version easily. What a transformation! It’s like a totally new build. The contrasting stone swatches on the upper floor give it a modern feel. Using different windows on each half gives each duplex some individuality while maintaining a cohesive look. Lovely landscaping. The purple room is so heavily decorated it’s hard to know where took. It must belong to someone who has lots of friends and loves to display their artwork. The backyard looks like a lot of fun for the whole family, with plenty of outdoor activities. A great place to sit and read or daydream or take a nap. The parents will love their private deck. The dog decals in the bathroom are so cute. That bench is perfect for sitting in the shade, people-watching. Nice to see another mezuzah! This teen’s bedroom definitely has a distinctly different vibe, reflecting a sim whose interests run to football and fitness. I like the backstory you gave this family. Lovely living space, especially the artwork above the couch. What a well-stocked laundry room. This deck must get lots of use, with the chess table, seating and a birdfeeder. Suggestions: When screenshotting narrow rooms, consider taking a top down view to avoid the fishbowl look - side walls that appear to stick on out at weird angles. It looks like some of your images got out of order, captains would have helped avoid confusion - which duplex does the first bedroom belong to? Is the highchair at the island routable? It doesn’t seem like it would be. The crib in the infant’s room definitely is not - even though the dresser is only blocking half of it, sims will see it as an obstruction. Moving the crib and chair over one square will make the area usable. Be careful of objects clipping into other objects. This happens in the parent’s room and in the nursery with the curtains.☆@HealthSims☆Comments: The new Old Salt House looks so sleek and modern, yet as if it has always been there. It’s beautiful in the misty morning light, which lends it a timeless air. Love the greenery on the roof of the second-floor balcony. Yes, pergola is the right word. A swim-up bar! What a luxury! Thank you for sharing so many images of the original build, it shows how far you’ve come. I think you wanted your sims to get some exercise by crossing the romo to use the toilet paper! LOL. The entry still maintains a hint of the original industrial vibe with the exposed brick. I see some excellent use of the new ceiling paints. Good idea to have a guest bath with a shower on the first floor in case the family needs to take a quick shower. With those big windows, sims will be too busy enjoying the view to get much work done. I do see what you meant about the evening light, it looks so pretty. The trophy case says a lot about this family. I like that some of the original graffiti is preserved. Very nice living and dining area, a perfect balance of modern and industrial. Game nights must be a lot of fun! And they have a fireplace too. A family of eight could definitely use those 2 fridges. Love the plant divider, creative. I would say don’t worry about the laundry, if you had room for a shelf then sims have room to stand and use the space. What a fun little pool area, and you used the new curved pools too! Love the “secret” garden nook, what a fun detail. The kids’ room doors with different signs are a great hint at their different personalities. Absolutely love the reading nook in Hunter’s room. Clever use of the curtains to make the reading nook in the play area. It does all feel like a magical forest. I like the space wall and ceiling in Milla jr.s room. The 2nd floor balcony and pergola are an excellent way to bring some greenery to the city. Had to chuckle at your description of Hunter III’s color preferences. I can see him choosing orange to bother his mom! Milla III’s room is well suited to a future actress. Again, the main bedroom looks great in the evening light. What a restful third floor balcony. Sims will love painting the sunset at the easel.Suggestions: Could you have chosen a shorter half-wall height so the wall wouldn’t stick up so far beyond the “shower” door in the guest bathroom? One thing that’s missing is exposed ceiling beams, which would have been consistent with the industrial style. This effect could’ve been achieved with spandrels on the third floor. Some kind of blinds would have looked nice in the office for some privacy. Speaking of the third floor, looks like that staircase is missing a railing. An open staircase is fine for this style of house, but not so high up. ☆@mandacaju☆ Comments: Sulani Family Vacation is a beautiful tropical home. Sims will have a lot of fun hanging out on the deck enjoying the ocean and the beautiful views. Your presentation reads as if it was written for a vacation rental site. I love the painted ceilings inside, very tropical. The living room looks like a nice place to relax and enjoy watching TV or just look out those big sliding doors to the patio. The clear stair rail and fence add just a touch of modernity without detracting from the overall feel of the build. The color palette is soothing, evoking images of beaches and sand. Vacationers are going to love the easy access to the outdoors from the kitchen, perfect for entertaining. Great idea to include an outdoor shower, that will be very useful. I love the glass floor in the primary suite, what a creative, unexpected surprise! I can see how much of an improvement the new house was over the original, which looks very humble in comparison.Suggestions: Some of your camera angles looked a little off. Try experimenting with camera positions and zoom levels to make them look a bit straighter. Check out the Screenshot guide linked to the main challenge post. Though it’s a vacation home, I would have liked to see some artwork and more clutter in the bunkroom. Perhaps a Sulani style vase on the dresser. Be careful of objects clipping into each other, for example, the dresser in the primary suite is clipping into the room divider behind it. ☆@Aaleyn☆ Comments: A Concert Hall! That’s a first, and what a lovely build it is. Even the original was very nice, elegant and impressive as a concert hall should be. But it definitely benefited from the larger lot and the extra landscaping outside, which helps to draw the eye. Excellent choice to use those clef statues arranged in two groups of five. The landscaping is tasteful and elegant. I love the below ground-level entry. All those glass roof tiles must give the concert hall a bright, airy feel when the weather is nice. Creative use of the dance floors - yes I know that’s what they are. The entrance looks great, with the wall speaker and an ad featuring a singer. Fancy restroom. Great job using the platforms as stages, that was such a useful update! The green planters make lovely backdrops. I don’t know if it was intentional, but you’ve got a second set of 10 - 10 chairs in each music hall. Love the detail of a No Phones Allowed sign. Sims will like spending time in the lounge and cafe areas, either chatting or having a drink or snack or even listening to the music drifting up from below. Suggestions: Since the restroom is so small, you could have taken a top down screenshot to fit the whole space without any odd camera angles. I do think four steps up to the stage might be a little high. Three steps might have been better. White wall trim on the half-walls in the lounge area would have helped them blend with the fence better. And the winner is… Aaleyn2nd Place goes to: alphaffrog Wonderful builds, everyone! It looks so welcoming, pets won’t be scared to come here. You went above and beyond putting in the time and effort to create that handicapped parking sign out of fencing. Love it and the ramp, great attention to detail. All the realistic touches are appreciated. The inlaid paw marks are charming. Cute cat mural in the bathroom. I like that al the vet rooms are different colors but with the same decor. THe first floor break room looks cozy and relaxing. I love the decals and posters in the pet rescue side. I had to chuckle at the cat decal that looks like it’s standing on top of the cat tree. I imagine Jack or his employees will lov sitting beside the lounge’s fireplace on cold days. Jack will love his office with all the green. The winter l against the banana leaf print is an interesting contrast, but appropriate for a man named Frost. I don’t think I’d have thought to use that particular wallpaper on the interior, but somehow it works in the bathroom. The bedroom looks comfortable and spacious. Good idea to incorporate both of Jack’s interests by adding the painting room/art studio. Those big windows give it plenty of light.Suggestions: Again, I love your handicapped sign, but it’s not very visible - it should be a lighter color to draw attention. Some of your interior screenshots look unsteady, as if the camera was at an odd angle. Work on that, zoom in and take screenshots of smaller areas if you have to so the walls look straight. For the smaller rooms, you could have taken just one aimed straight down. Why do the stairs to the second floor have a different wallpaper than the entry walls? ☆@KiteldesignsComments: This boarding kennel looks very sturdy and safe, well-suited to Magnolia Promenade with all the brick inside and out. The landscaping is so tidy, with a touch of fun from the statue at the corner.. The contrasting shades and patterns of wood in the entry foyer draw the eye. The fishtank brightens up the space. I love that you enlarged those two dog statues and put them in the corner of the room. Is the area with all the shelves and supplies meant to be a store or a storage room? It looks well-stocked and was a great idea either way. The kennels may be small, but they’ll definitely get lots of light from those big windows. Suggestions: Captions under your images would have been very helpful. I don’t think I’ve ever seen such large windows in public a bathroom - especially without blinds to cover them and give a sense of privacy while letting in some light. The windows are also a problem in the grooming room? Where a counter is clearly clipping into the window behind it. I would have liked to see at least one toy in the indoor kennels and some fun pet-themed wall decor used throughout. Where is the break room and office? The layout views? Jack will definitely have trouble getting his employees to go back to work with all they have to do in there ]☆ Aaleyn ☆ I love the use of the green banana print wallpaper as an accent wall in The Break Room. I love the painted ceiling, it’s perfect for this room. The stone floor separating the kitchen from the rest of the room was a great idea. The hall table near the door is a great space to drop small items like keys or purses as employees enter the break room. And they have a mirror to check their appearance in too! I like the bamboo dividers separating the sitting area from the chess table, they go perfectly with the wallpaper and rug, just a little on the wild side while bringing some nature into the room. The kitchen is so well-stocked, with plenty of room for multiple sims to use it at once. Sims will enjoy the view out of those huge windows while they eat. And the winner is Aaleyn!. Those flannel pajamas will be cozy in the winter. And the athletic outfit is his favorite color, that will make exercise more enjoyable. Now I’m curious what kind of beanie you had in mind for cold weather, but the one you picked works, at least for the color scheme. Vern is so cute! @Issabella14‌ Thanks! I also enjoy th critiques. Nobody I know in RL plays the game so this is my only way of knowing another's opinion. I could show it to hubby but he thinks everything is awesome lol. However he did think the yoga should have been a sona or spa. If I only had a hot tub :D

STARTING OUT RESULTS FOR CHALLENGE #11 AISLE REMEMBER

An impressive modern design with an intricate roof structure which lets in lots of light to the interior. This venue really looks as if it has been built on a beach with your great use of terrain paint and the wooden decking leading up to the entrance. Excellent choice of plants and trees with minimal use, as would be found in such an environment. The main ceremony hall is very beautiful with the water features at either side, the romantic candles and beach colours. The single seats leading up the aisle look very gorgeous but maybe more seating here would be more appropriate, even if it meant narrowing the water features. The band area is well situated to serenade the guests while dining and the lovely bar area with excellent placement of counters and the pebble wall texture really adds to the beachy feel. Fantastic idea to create a portrait area to capture the special day.

Suggestions:

There are a lot of empty walls within the build which would have benefited from more wall decorations and pictures. The rest rooms seem a little bare, these would benefit from more colour, ie wall decorations and perhaps seating.

Gorgeous looking wedding venue with a terrific roof structure, lovely star shaped pool and lots of parking. However, there doesn't seem to be a path leading from front to rear where the elevators are situated. The Tiki bar, music and fire pit look perfect for partying and socialising. Your landscaping shows a great use of terrain paint and good choice of plants and trees to reflect the beach theme, while keeping the look soft and romantic. Lovely interior layout with good sized rooms. The ceremony hall is very beautiful and well designed using the wooden theme, perhaps adding a fence at the top of the stairs would be a good idea. The fountains in the alcoves are a wonderful feature, as are the drapes, plants and good lighting. Great reception area showing the band playing whilst dining, really like the partition separating this area from the bar and buffet tables, maybe adding a column at the end of this partition would have added to the elegance.

Suggestions:

I noticed some trees and indoor plants are cutting into walls (elevator and gents rest room), use the alt key to shift these away slightly so they don't cut through.

This place looks amazing! I love the shingled exterior, very beachy, you roof lines look great and work really well. Your layout is wonderful, I like that you have two separate areas, but that they flow together really well. The landscaping is just divine, I am really impressed with your use of the terrain painting tools. Your palette works well throughout and it is certainly a very romantic venue.

Suggestions: Some of your shots feel a little dark, try using some buydebug lighting to lighten those really dark areas. Also, it seems to mar the entrance having all those cars parked out the front, I wonder if having the car park in a less prominent area would have improved the ‘curb appeal’ of the lot.

Oh wow, what a building! It looks like a converted mansion, very well thought out and executed. The rooflines look fab and your exterior coverings work well with the theme of the build. The layout works well, keeping the ceremony hall and the dining room on different levels is a novel idea. Your palette helps bring that beach theme into the build and you interior wall coverings are fabulous. Fantastic eye for detail and some really great object choices. The landscaping is lovely with that gorgeous pond.

ESTABLISHED RESULTS FOR CHALLENGE #11 AISLE REMEMBER

Victorian Dreams is a very beautiful wedding venue. Good choice of exterior textures and tones and a great roof structure. The columns and spandrels really add to the decorative and ornate look of Victorian style as does the formal and attractive planting. Really like how you've brought the Victorian theme inside with the decor and furnishings. Excellent interior layout with all rooms easily accessible. The Ceremony Hall looks beautiful decorated in beach colours and your choice of curtains really adds to the romantic theme. However, I would have liked to see more wall decorations here, as well as romantic candles and plants. The fencing separating the seats is very effective. The open concept plan on the first floor works really well with the band area and dance floor, dining and bar areas all close by. The balloons and flowers on the tables really add to the party feel.

Suggestions: The parking area at the rear is very spacious but looks a little bland. More work on landscaping this area with plants and maybe statues or fountains would have livened the area up.

Castles in the Sand is a very majestic build with some great architectural design. Really inspirational how you've designed this 'sandcastle' wedding venue. Though not an indoor hall, the ceremony is situated with a beautiful backdrop, centred in a walled garden, all looking incredibly romantic and peaceful. Love the sprinkles of sand here and there. Your interior design is very beautiful, albeit bright and modern in places. Maybe a softer and more subdued theme would have been more romantic. Great placement of indoor fountains around the dining and band areas. Excellent idea to create kids play areas to keep the youngsters amused.

Suggestions: The rocks and flowers look gorgeous together but make sure they don't block access along the paths, which may create routing problems during play.

STARTING OUT RESULTS FOR CHALLENGE #12 WINTER DESIGNER SHOWDOWN

Wonderful external appearance with great choice of wood and stone wall textures gives this home a lovely cabin feel, combined with your excellent choice of woodsy planting. You have made good use of all the available outdoor space and included lots of activities. The decking with the bbq/dining area and pool adds a great touch. Very spacious open floor plan, though I would have liked to see a little division between all the different areas. All the bedrooms are beautifully decorated and furnished in a lovely rustic style giving an earthy natural feel. The open plan 'den' area upstairs works really well and looks a great area to hang out.

Suggestions: Open plan concept is great in the way it gives lots of space but the areas must 'flow' with each other. Try and keep the styles and colour schemes in each area in line with each other.

Lovely exterior design with a good choice of wall coverings and textures. Gorgeous outdoor areas with lots of activities to keep kids and adults amused. Excellent interior layout using an open plan concept on the ground floor with each area defined by the different flooring, looks very effective. Superb interior design using a modern style and great colour combinations in all rooms giving a very stylish and chic appearance. Excellent object placement and great use of MOO. Those bunk beds with the shelves as steps look fantastic and I love the way you've MOO'd the lamps together.

Suggestions: I would suggest you experiment with terrain paint to give those extra effects outdoors. For example, add a little dirt under the monkey bars to make the area look 'used'. More plants and shrubs would have added more colour to the grounds.

Gorgeous looking country style house with a great choice of windows and textures that work well together. Excellent use of terrain paint to create paths and lovely choice of plants to add colour. Wonderful interior layout design with rooms easily accessible. Really like your galley kitchen, the arches look great either side and the mounted fish add to the 'farm' style. The log fire in the living room looks very inviting, mighty impressed with your MOO here and the kids area in this room is a great idea! All bedrooms are beautifully decorated.

Suggestions: Your landscaping is wonderful, but I feel there is a lot of 'wasted' space externally. Perhaps some outdoor areas/activities would have 'filled' these empty spaces.
